As with last year, we've started a series of voting polls in the forum, asking YOU about the events of the past twelve months. The questions so far are:

  • Best Sam & Max Episode
  • Best alternative title for Indy IV.
  • Your view of 2007
  • Best Review Best Feature
  • Best Interview
  • Best Headline
  • Best News Post
  • Best -- or most interesting -- news story
  • Most Wanted for 2008
  • 2007 was the year that...
  • Best Mojo banter
  • Best Behind Mojo
  • Most likely to be promoted

...but more will be added soon.

You need to register with our forums to be able to vote, but it only takes one second, and you can use your account for the whole of Lucas Forums and message away with Remi, Jake and the whole team! We're all on Lucasforums, messaging our souls away! Come join us.

Oh, and one more thing: all of the results will be going into a review of the year, just like we did for 2006.

Update: more questions have been added, and we've also got a new header for our forums. If it's still loading the old images for you, just hit Ctrl F5.

  • Happy Holidays from The International House of Mojo! (yes, that card's all my own work! And if a guy called 'Steve Purcell' turns up I'm not in)

The team here at Mojo are all hard at work (cough) at making 2008 an even better year for gaming than 2007, and that was pretty darn special! More details in the New Year!

    Merry Xmas Everyone!

The latest news is this: Remi Olsen is greedily having another birthday, even though he had his last one only a year ago! It was on the same day as well: this man works like clockwork! I'm on fire with all these birthday jokes!

But seriously, the Mojo team all pitted together and bought Remi a really nice, expensive birthday cake. Remi then reviewed the cake on his web-site and gave it a 3 thumbs down rating, stating that the "frosting was too frosty and the filling was too filling."

    Happy birthday anyway, Remi!

Oh man, the site got burned! We think the problem was something to do with Remi's plumbing -- water leaked and it got into the main server, or something -- but he's had a man around and the whole situation is fixed, apparently. The trouble is that it's winter and the water freezes very easily, and a lot of Remi's pipes go around the outside of his house, so -- we'll see. Fingers crossed, guys.

... that today is Jake's birthday? Let's all wish him a good one.

Update by Gabez: It's also Halloween! Is it significant to Jake's birthday? Probably not. Anyway, have an annoying MIDI on us:

Just to let you know: the redecorating on the main page is temporary and will be dismantled after Halloween.

Other holiday fun can be found at Double Fine and Telltale (though Telltale's competition is just about to end).

Warning! Do not stare at the orange wallpaper.

P.S. We all have spooky names on #monkey-island, and we're all chatting! Get on right now and meet Jake, Remi and the gang all chatting away to our bonny heart's content.

How did we miss this? This is like missing International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Last Saturday, October 13th, was International Monkey Island Music Day. Kotaku remembered, as did the founder of the feast Ron Gilbert, but Mojo forgot.

We promise we will never ever let you down ever again. Well, for at least a year anyway.

Brutal what now? CSI is obviously where it's at!

If you were thinking of buying Telltale Game's latest Crime Scene Investigation adventure, don't. That is, don't until you've read our review.

And for the record that homeless man died after he left my house. Don't dig up my patio!!

    thx 4 coming!

Log and other goodies to go up here later this week.

Missed out on our birthday chat? No matter - there was some demand to meet again regularly on Sundays, so that's what we'll try. Hopefully it'll work out lolz.

Update: Due to popular demand (?) we've also set up a Mojo/#monkey-island Facebook group! If you're a regular or even not-so-regular visitor to Mojo and you're on Facebook, why not join us on Monkey-Island!

The International House of Mojo turned ten years old this year: what follows is an article chronicling a history of the site, mainly picking up from where Spaff's article left off in 2000. Read! Interviews from previous staff members. View! Exciting images from the past. Gasp! As old secrets are finally uncovered.

See it all, and then some, over here.

Update: Page 3 has been updated with answers from Jake Rodkin.

Update 2 (by Remi): Read all about Gabez's rise to the top, and the long fall down.

Update 3: a birthday chat will take place this Sunday in #monkey-island on Gamesurge (connect to irc.gamesurge.net using mIRC). New people as well as old regulars are welcome: use this as a chance to chat to lots of other Mojoers in real-time 3D! Post on this forum thread if you need any help.

No, not Telltale. TT Games, formerly Traveller's Tales, purveyors of all things Lego (that being Star Wars, Indy, Batman and, um, Bionicle Heroes) sit down with Mojo for a quick interview about games past, present and future. Pull up a Lego Set and then click here to read the interview.

Although I forgot to ask them about whether Lego Hitler is going make an appearance. Oh well. Enjoy!

(Additional note from Gabez: you may also notice that we've restored a lot of our old articles. I did this ages ago and forgot to mention it).

At the request of Double Fine we took down the story that was up a few moments ago. Double Fine is awesome, and to help perpetuate that awesomeness, we deemed it in everyone's best interest to comply and pull the story. Sorry, Jason!

It's safe to assume that some actual awesome news will be coming from them soon, though.

When asked about the original story, Tim Schafer issued a short comment, saying, "The whole thing was a lie. What I'm really working on is Zak McKracken 2 for the PSP."

And yes, you heard right: winners it is; though I said at the start that there will only be one winner, I decided to split the prizes in the end. This was partly because both winners made excellent entries, and it was a pain to decide between them; and partly because they were both, I thought, more interested in different prizes from each other.

I take pleasure in saying that GloKidd and v4MP1r3 are our two winners. GloKidd submitted five entries: an imaginative piece of Sam & Max fan-art; a Sam & Max/A Vampyre Story crossover comic panel; and the rest shown in a web-site he created (which itself counts as a submission): a clay model of Max, and a tiny tiny MixnMojo code wheel badge. To GloKidd goes the Telltale goodies.

v4MP1r3, meanwhile, put a lot of effort into making a blog for A Vampyre Story, which has an archive of the game's information, images and related articles, and the author intends to keep updating the blog, charting the game's maturing until its release day. The signed A Vampyre Story concept art will be flying off to v4MP1r3 shortly.

Well done to our winners, thanks again to TellTale and Autumn Moon for donating the prizes, and thanks also for all the Mojo readers who took part.

I trust you all enjoyed our summer competition. It wasn?t quite the Triwizard Tournament, but I hope it was fun nevertheless.

As the removal of my garish competition advertisement has no doubt alerted you: the Mojo summer competition has now drawn to a close.

It will, however, take a few days for us to sort through the numerous entries everyone sent in. If you just missed the deadline, but had prepared something, if you send it in right now, you might just make it in time.

What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?

    Answers on a postcard, please.

    Or, alternatively, to gabez@mixnmojo.com.

We've been asked by a few people if we can extend the deadline a little bit, so that's what we've done: you've got a week more to get your fan-work in and be in with a chance to win those very special prizes that you won't find anywhere else (not even eBay!).

Remember, if you've e-mailed in a submission, and you didn't get a confirmation response from me, that means that I didn't get your e-mail. Please leave a comment and I'll get through to you.

I also want to remind people that, really, quantity is more important than quality! This is all for a bit of fun, and the more you take part, the more of a chance you'll have to win. Don't worry if you can't draw or design or bake or sing - marks will be given for enthusiasm.

Also, feel free to send it stuff that you've already published.

Update: since I'm visiting my aunt next weekend, I thought I'd extend the deadline by two weeks instead. Hope this doesn't annoy anyone.

The International House of Mojo is pleased to welcome an old hosted site back into the network. Presenting... The Essential Guide to Monkey Island!

The site features a comprehensive database with character and item profiles, a full history of the games, and some technical wizardry known as a "flash" intro. It?s lovingly crafted and bursting with juicy fan goodness.

You may also remember that Matt, the creator, also made the adventure game that we mentioned a few days back.

If you?re reading this and are an old Mojo Webmaster (or Webmistress) who?s site didn?t survive the server crash, leave a comment. We?d love to have you back, like some sleezy father who's learnt the error of his ways.

Now Showing at Mixnmojo.com - He was a determined games reviewer, travelling the same path that only one famous archaeologist and billions of tourists have dared to tread! Dare you walk down the same path? If so, you will face the history and the disappointment The Tingler discovered in... Indiana Jones Chris & The Emperor's Tomb!

In case the garish banner advertisement on the main page didn?t attract your attention, here?s a news post to really drum the message in: Mojo is having a competition. Quite a good one, this time. We have some very kindly donated swag from Autumn Moon and Telltale, all to give to one lucky person.

All you have to do is create some fan-work. We?ve included a few suggestions, but really, anything goes. Just make something that says: "I?m a fan of Autumn Moon and Telltale and LucasArts, and I deserve to win wonderful prizes!"

    Find out more here.
