Like, the greatest party EVER. 16 Oct, 2007 / Comments: 8

How did we miss this? This is like missing International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Last Saturday, October 13th, was International Monkey Island Music Day. Kotaku remembered, as did the founder of the feast Ron Gilbert, but Mojo forgot.

We promise we will never ever let you down ever again. Well, for at least a year anyway.

Look behind you, a three-headed monkey!

Kotaku remembered last year, but not this year. Look at the date that was posted. ;)

Well blow the man down. So it's not too bad after all. Dargh.

Though I'd rather have not seen those hippies dance to the Monkey Island theme, the music is very good - especially in the other two videos. The theme works well as a techno wave item and I also liked the violin in the 3rd video. But it does open up the world rather more than I expected. It's weird to think that people do this sort of thing. Does "That remix is apparently popular among ravers who have no idea it's a cover." mean that the Monkey Island tune is played in dance clubs? It would be wild if this were true. Though the Tingler told me that he saw a busker playing the Monkey Island theme in Oxford.

Do people act like this for Thrillville?

Re: the hippies... it's not that out there, is it? I mean, half the songs in MI -- well, in Curse of Monkey Island especially -- sound like the Grateful Dead sat in for the recording session.

You're the one with the guitar on the right, aren't you?

The Scumm Bar theme, to be precise.

    What on earth?
