Gamezone have reviewed LEC's new action PC game, the all-shooting all-flying Star Wars Starfighter. Here's a sample:
I was able to fight my way through eighty percent of the game in about two hours. Okay that was on the easy setting, but the bottom line is simple. Starfighter is an action arcade game. It?s not gonna blow you away, or keep you up very late while you desperately try to defeat that next level
Or You can read our very own review of this game for another opinion! More alternatives exist at ActionTrip, Gamespot and IGN. AND! You can read some reader reviews of the Xbox version on Shacknews (1, 2).

We also have reports of a Galactic Battlegrounds review on GameZilla.

Star Wars Combine Simulation, a fan-made internet simulation game, has been shut down for the time being by the Antipiracy department of Lucasfilm. While it is important to note that this is not directly related to LucasArts, it does remind us of the copyright laws that exist and how the Lucas companies have dealt with them in the past.

According to Jedi Knote #5 posted on January 24th, former LucasArts composer and sound designer Clint Bajakian is editing the interactive music for Jedi Outcast. Mr. Bajakian, as you may know, has written music for such LucasArts games as Monkey Island 2, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Outlaws, and Escape From Monkey Island. Clint has gone on to start his own company, CB Studios doing freelance work for various companies. Here's a quote from the Jedi Knote:
Musically, Clint Bajakian (who produced music and sound for Star Wars: Dark Forces as well as many other Star Wars titles) has designed an interactive score, adapting John Williams' monumental film score to an interactive medium that dynamically responds to the player's situation.
So it doesn't sound like there will be much, if any, new music in this game. However, it is good to know that an expert on interactive music is on top of things.

If you missed the Rogue Leader chat the other night and you're not totally disinterested in Star Wars games, you may want to check out the chat transcript on the official site. Here is an interesting quote:

briancooper: Will Rogue Squadron 2 be available for the PC someday? Or is it just going to be a GameCube exclusive?

Rogue Leader Team: Rogue Leader is a GameCube exclusive title. We will not porting Rogue Leader to any other platform...

Ouch.

A site called Vote.com is having a poll about the Episode II title, Attack of the Clones. How does this relate to LucasArts? The site promises that "your vote will always be sent where it counts. We'll send your vote to LucasArts." Yeah, I bet LucasArts would really appreciate that... it'll distract them from making games, which is what they do, of course... not to be confused with that other Lucas company.

Welcome Humans, Droids, Jedi, Sith & Other...

The *almost official* date of the Episode II trailer is "reckoned" to be around November. Many think it will be attached to Planet Of The Apes, althougth there's no official word yet.
There's been some rumour that it'd be on the Episode I dvd, although the mechanics of the trailers release and the date of the DVDs mass production rule that out, theirs still some rumours that owners of the DVD will be given exclusive access to part of the official site to download the trailer before everyone else.

Either way, its a fair few months away and if you want something to keep you waiting, download this brand new fan made Episode II teaser trailer. It features Hayden taken from this months "Making of" video from the official site but with effects and backgrounds. If I say so myself, it looks pretty "Beefy", definetly worth downloading.
For more information, visit the Maul316's Fanfilms section on TFN.

So, excited by the Episode I DVD?
I know I was... although I did felt kind of mislead when I read the official announcement on the official website announcing "The Wait is Over".
But it's almost 4-5 months wait? I'd say the wait is far from over!
Whether it been announced as a counter attack on the "Phantom Edit" press recently or just because Lucas is sick of hearing people wanting it desperately, we're all going to have to wait for it to come out.
But don't be bitter, at least its finally come out when only a few months ago the ETA was probably late next year if not more!
So in the mean time, the answer to make the purchase seem that little bit closer it to PRE-ORDER!

Best deals found so far on the net for the UK is Bensons World which are offering it at ?19.99 with free postage. Also don't forget that the DVD comes 24 hours then the rest of the world.

If you live in that other country that speaks English, what's it called? Oh yeah America :-D you can find the cheapest deal at DVDempire.com which offer it at $20.99 excluding shipping.
Although the British will be treated to the DVD a day before the rest of the world, pound for dollar, the UK price a lot more expensive at around $29. While vice-versea the USA price is around ?14.50.
Just proves you can't have it all!

For anywhere else checkout TheForce.Net's Episode I Section for worldwide release dates and cheapest pre-order sites.

PS I recently got engaged... damn phone lines...

LucasLearning put out a press release today containing the following:
Lucas Learning Ltd. today announced they will cease production of Star Wars Super Bombad Racing for Windows and Macintosh. This decision reflects the new direction that will shift the company's focus away from consumer entertainment products to direct-to-school educational products. Lucas Learning will create, produce and market a suite of curriculum-based products targeted directly to schools, grades K-12.
I guess that pretty much says it all. I was looking forward to playing Bombad on my Mac, as the PS2 version was really fun, but I guess thats how it goes. Full press release on Theforce.net. Look for less entertaining more educating games from LucasLearning in the near future.

NintendoWeb recently conducted an interview with the game's co-director, Brett Tosti. There are 2 parts; part one and part two.
BT: Well, even from Rogue Squadron to Battle for Naboo you probably saw a greater sense of realism; we did it from the music side and tweaked the game engine. Further now on the GameCube, the engine that we are using for Rogue Leader is allowing us to get a new sense of immersion so you feel like, ?Hey, this looks like the movie, but I?m playing it!? It?s sometimes almost hyper-real.

According to the new LucasArts Insider, there will be a chat on the official site with Garry Gaber, Director for Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. The chat will take place at 6pm (PST) on Wednesday, June 27th. This is the perfect chance for you to go and ask questions about... the game... and stuff.
