You whine, LEC listens? 14 Jul, 2010 / 13 comments

Down at the official Monkey Island Facebook page, LucasArts has this to say:

We're hearing all your feedback and will have news on much of it shortly. To clarify: MISE2 isn't planned for an OSX release at this time, will let you know if and when that changes!

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition managed to rock the socks off of even the most cynical of fans, with only some small gripes regarding how immaculately preserved the classic version of game was. What, then, does LEC mean by that first sentence in the quoted statement? I don't know, that's why I'm asking you.

but overall there's little reason to get your panties in a twist over the product that was delivered. And I believe that was Jason's point in the post.

Wasn't really trying to make a point. That the game generally pleased everyone was an observation I made based on the overall reaction I've seen, and I still think it's accurate. I wasn't trying to mock people who had complaints about the SE - that would be silly, as I've voiced some myself - and the "whining" part was (clearly, I thought) not meant to be taken very seriously. Somebody's always going to get offended whether you're trying to offend or not, I guess. Oh well.

HAve not experienced any of the timing issue's.

Timed my spitting perfect the first time. And for Stan in the coffin just 'use nails on Coffin" while Stan's talking and Guybrush will close the lid and then nail him in, there is no timing to be done that way.

To be clear, I'm not undermining people's complaints, just saying they don't appear to be that bad in my experience.

Hope they fix the iMuse on 360, mono on PS3 and add the intro back in.

its called freedom of speach is it not in you consitution?

"freedom of speach" -- I assume you mean "speech" (and possibly even "constitution") -- doesn't apply on a private server, so yeah...

Anyway, there's a difference between having negative opinions and full-on whining. There are some things I'd love to see fixed in the SE -- iMuse on Xbox being the one absolute must -- but overall there's little reason to get your panties in a twist over the product that was delivered. And I believe that was Jason's point in the post.

just because you wrote a "review" doesnt make you the expert on this matter

I hate how mojo are making out people where whining due to the fact they dont want LA to think they had anything to do with it.
its called freedom of speach is it not in you consitution? the right to an opinion? LA made some mistakes and people were upset that they did not get what was promised which was a total remake , scene for scene, of a game they have loved since childhood.

The lack of iMUSE on the 360 version, out of sync bone song and timing issues on a couple of the puzzles are top of my list of things they definitely should fix.

Nice-to-have would be fixing a few of the mistimed audio cues dotted around the game, especially ones that ought to be synched up to animations, like Guybrush jumping at the Mardi Gras costume and Rapp Scallion being resurrected. And of course slotting the intro back in would be nice.

In terms of actual serious bugs, the timing on some puzzles will likely be the first thing to be changed as stuff like the Spitting Contest, nailing in Stan and a lot of LeChuck stuff at the end are way too hard at the moment. If only one thing is fixed in a patch it would be that.

As for want, if they just put back in the opening titles I'd be completely content. It just feels wrong without them, especially as every Monkey Island game has one.
