If you've been waiting for the Limited Run Monkey Island anthology, wait no more. Or rather, wait until October 30th. Point being, it has been fully announced:
It might run you a cool $160, but you do get a lot for your money, provided you actually want what's bundled. The E-Ticket? Awesome! Ultimate Insult illustration? Amusingly random. Books? Fo' sho'. The rest... well, it might be for some of you, for others, not so much.
Like it? Love it? Disappointed? Let us know in the comment, and let us know if you have any questions for Limited Run -- Mojo Interview(TM) is forthcoming.

Well sadly they won't be getting mine with this offering. And I'm a prime candidate for this stuff - grew up with the original games and am now a nostalgia-generation adult. But this offering just isn't good enough. That fan-altered version doing the rounds is what this should have been.
I really, really respect your opinion and I wish I had the willpower to do the same because, well, after all I think you're right - it seems kind of an half-assed product.
And yet I'll buy at least one, I still have to decide if I'm keeping one unopened in case I fancy getting buried with it.
I'll buy one as well, for the statue more than anything else.
Here's hoping the USB drive is at least Monkey Island themed. I wouldn't mind a USB stick shaped like a Grog machine, for example.

The answer to both of your questions is MONEY.

I know it'd be impossibly expensive, but I still want to see a game some day that actually looks like those first two Purcell covers.
This is what I want - it frustrates me so much that they didn't do that for the SE versions. Even if they didn't go for a full painted look, they could have illustrated them 'in the style of'.

I mostly just want to know what's on that disk. For 160 bucks it better not be empty.
It contains... thee secret.
Or Goodsoup crypt. If it's an image of Goodsoup crypt or the tunnels from MI 2s ending they get a big "bravo" from me.

Another question: After working with Laserschwert before on high quality image scans for other releases, why are they only saying that they couldn't get to Skywalker archives as the reason for the all-black imagery and lack of high quality scans?
And why not wait till they could actually get to the archive insead of publishing a half-baked product.

The extras are expectedly bizarre/hacky, but I give a thumbs up to the EMI love.
Yeah it's great that they're giving back some dignity to EMI after the internet decided it wasn't worth of even being mentioned. Sorry, it is.

You're gonna include a statue of Guybrush as part of this release, and you're going to model it after one of his Special Edition likelinesses? Someone caught a case of the sillies with that one.
TBH, I don't mind the MI2 SE Guybrush - it's kind of a mix between the original and CMI. I'd personally rather they use the TMI Guybrush (it's my favorite of the bunch), but I definitely wouldn't mind displaying the MI2 SE-inspired statue in my game room.
At least they didn't go for the pirate punk dead-eyed Guybrush that was in the MI1 SE.
I don't object to the black box, but for those disappointed with that choice it should be noted that LRG's "guilt" in this regard is mitigated by external factors.
Will there be stock for everyone?
