Staff of Kings price drop 09 Aug, 2009, 04:01 / 16 comments

The (evidently) lackluster sales of Staff of Kings is bad news for LEC but good news for you because all versions of the game have undergone a price cut, selling for $20 each now from Walmart, Amazon, and other online retailers. At $20 bucks the Wii version is a total steal, especially considering Fate of Atlantis is on the disc. The reviews might scare you, but I can personally vouch for the Wii version as being worthy of twenty smackers. Think of it as sort of like this awesome unreleased Indy arcade game from ten years ago that they decided to put on the Wii, and I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

Really not arsed, as much as I like Indy...

Although it will be interesting if this does badly and the MI stuff does exceptionally well- hopefully finally persuade them that the real money is in the SCUMM I.P. rather then milking the fertile cash-cow of Indy and Star Wars....

star wars games still sell exquisitely though

Yeah. It's kind of a damn shame though that LucasArts can't sell an Indiana Jones game that excites people. I mean, Indy isn't Star Wars, but it's still freaking Indiana Jones. Just make a great game.

Well, LA can't sell a Star Wars game that excites people either, yet people with a sheeplike mentality seem to flock to stores that sell them and pick them up like they were vacuum cleaners.

    I don't get this...

So they must excite someone then.

I was excited by The Force Unleashed (before I played it anyway), Jedi Knight II, KOTOR 1 and 2 and I am excited about The Old Republic. Done well, Star Wars can be great.

Fate of Atlantis is the best-selling out of the Steam games, for example.

It's probably worth it for that price, yes. It's okay, there's just a lot missing in terms of plot. And bags. And maps with red lines on them. And Nazis.

    Was there a PC version?

    Luckily, no.

Shoot/move around until you see the cursor go to green. Or, just be like me and shoot one at a time. They move in a pattern.

I liked the game... but it did seem a little short. I felt like it needed more gameplay/time. I don't care if a game looks like crap so long as I enjoy the gameplay.

So you have to shoot the baddies directly? No exploding barrels or collapsing cliff face?
  • Sp0tted on 09 Aug, 2009, 06:40…
If you haven't found one by now... try moving as far to one side as you can, maybe you can get a better vantage point to shoot them.

I'm having trouble in Panama. I've just scaled a wall, dropped over the other side and dispatched the thugs. Then there's a shootout, I can get the guy on th eleft of the cliff (he can get Indy even when hiding behind the crates), but I can't seem to get the other 3 guys. Is there a hotspot to make something fall or collapse the cliff?

Is that before you get in the temple?
  • The Tingler on 09 Aug, 2009, 11:45…
Aha, I know where you are. Yes, shoot that guy on the left quickly, but just take your time with the others. A few others come and take their places a few times, but after about... four or five they stop.

After that there are no enemies until the next checkpoint, which is the Temple and the point where the game really gets better.
