Or so we can just assume, based on Twitter’s very own @samedods who tweeted to us a Limited Run trailer of "collector’s editions of classic Star Wars games". That in itself is probably cool if you care about those kind of things, but more interestingly, the Amiga version of the Monkey Island theme plays at the end of the trailer. So, you know, 2 + 2 probably equals 4, and that is the conclusion I have decided to make.
Update! THE @fantasticleak16 has even more: “@mixnmojo MI1, MI2 and Curse are in the list of Limited Run’s announced titles! And it looks like some sort of Collectors Edition may be coming! Check out the bottom of the page... Link”
I have no clue what this Limited Run shenanigans is, but woo all the same!

As they are making some Gameboy recreations I suppose it's possible that these releases "could" have the CD version releases of the original editions. Sort of like just breaking up the MI Madness CD.
And as for the big box desire, I'd also not count on that. They seem to have a standard box size for their normal and special releases. Even going as far as to sell special plastic boxing to protect the boxes while on your shelf. But they could look like miniaturized duplicates of the old big boxes.

Limited Runs use of saying "Special Edition" is, I'm sure, more about THEIR special edition packaging and bonus thingies, not the remastered versions of MI. But I would assume that the regular MI 1 and 2 will be the remasters.
In that game list on their website only Monkey 1 and 2 have the "special edition" subtitle, so I guess it's the remakes. Maybe they'll throw in the original versions as well, but who knows.
Secret of Monkey island has 2 entries, suggesting classic AND SE, whereas LeChuck's Revenge is just the SE

It would be nice if they came in big boxes.
That's what I'm banking on
