Re-releases of Lucasfilm Games’s Amiga titles pretty much guaranteed (Updated!) 10 Jun, 2019 / 15 comments

Or so we can just assume, based on Twitter’s very own @samedods who tweeted to us a Limited Run trailer of "collector’s editions of classic Star Wars games". That in itself is probably cool if you care about those kind of things, but more interestingly, the Amiga version of the Monkey Island theme plays at the end of the trailer. So, you know, 2 + 2 probably equals 4, and that is the conclusion I have decided to make.

Update! THE @fantasticleak16 has even more: “@mixnmojo MI1, MI2 and Curse are in the list of Limited Run’s announced titles! And it looks like some sort of Collectors Edition may be coming! Check out the bottom of the page... Link

I have no clue what this Limited Run shenanigans is, but woo all the same!

They removed it even for owners? That seems very unfair! :(

I hope that the SE versions of MI1 and 2 for iOS will also be re-released! It was more than disappointing when they were not converted to 64bit and completely withdrawn from the store even for owners. Would you mind me if I say it feels like they were stolen?!

As they are making some Gameboy recreations I suppose it's possible that these releases "could" have the CD version releases of the original editions. Sort of like just breaking up the MI Madness CD.

And as for the big box desire, I'd also not count on that. They seem to have a standard box size for their normal and special releases. Even going as far as to sell special plastic boxing to protect the boxes while on your shelf. But they could look like miniaturized duplicates of the old big boxes.

    Awww

Limited Runs use of saying "Special Edition" is, I'm sure, more about THEIR special edition packaging and bonus thingies, not the remastered versions of MI. But I would assume that the regular MI 1 and 2 will be the remasters.

In that game list on their website only Monkey 1 and 2 have the "special edition" subtitle, so I guess it's the remakes. Maybe they'll throw in the original versions as well, but who knows.

Secret of Monkey island has 2 entries, suggesting classic AND SE, whereas LeChuck's Revenge is just the SE

It would be nice if they came in big boxes.

    That's what I'm banking on

"Limited Run Games" should just be known as "Expensive Box Games".

Oh, this looks nice. Although, it seems the TIE Fighter release won't be the Collector's version, but the original DOS one...

It's interesting to mention that besides the SEs of MI1 and MI2 they are going to release MI1 in its non-SE form as well... at least that's what the titles in the list suggest.

Finally I can have that MI Edition containing the dry spit of Ron, Tim and Dave I've always wanted.

They just put out the order form for their Psychonauts 1 Limited Edition last Friday. It was a bit too pricy for me to jump on, with all the versions of it that I already own, but I fully believe I'll be getting at least all of these MI games on day one. And I have plenty of those games. I'm a sucker.

PC re-released (Limited Run branded) boxed editions of MI 1,2,3, and a Special Edition release of MI1 which probably has extra items like a poster at the least.
