RTX for Gamecube Cancelled? 23 Feb, 2003 / Comments: 16

As pointed out by Royal Fool in the Adventure Gamers Forums, LucasArts has removed all mention of the Gamecube from the RTX Red Rock site and press release stuff (to prove that I'm not crazy, here's the old RTX site with the GC logo).

Hopefully the Gamecube release is only delayed and not cancelled (the recent RTX preview at Gamespot said the Gamecube release was lagging behind), but it's a disappointing rumor to us Gamecube owners nontheless.

Update: LEC says more info on whats up with the Gamecube version will be coming soon, so we still have no idea what's up. :)

if they have cancelled it i will be incredibly angry. the cube deserves a title like this. it will be shite on the ps2s inferior system.

well i'm sure it will be good. but i know my systems, and the ps2 rendering power is rubbish.

    agreed...

    cube > all other systems

This will most definitely be the biggest disappointment of the year if that's the case.

    RTX@Cube needs to be made.

It's still on the Nintendo site, although it doesn't look like they're interested in the game over there: http://www.nintendo.com/games/gamepage/gamepage_main.jsp?gameId=1326

What?! I bought a Gamecube because I wanted to play games like RTX Red Rock. Now I have to buy a PS2? Mixnmojo is the most expensive hobby ever. :)

If you want a space game for Gamecube with an upgradable arm gun and numerous modes of vision including heat sensing/night vision you should try Metroid Prime.

    Or Super Mario Sunshine.

I already tried that one... didn't dig it. Looked nice and all, but was rather boring.

I would bet that we'll have an Xbox Deluxe version announced in a couple days featuring two small extra areas and one new enemy who is actually just a palette swapped version of another enemy. Or another enemy but with a hue adjustment. Whatever the hell you want to call it.

Also the box art will be tinted green, and "Episode 1" will be silently dropped from the title weeks before release.
