Psychonauts 2 could be episodic! 08 Feb, 2012 / 4 comments

In what is quickly becoming known as the most exciting news story in all of history, Notch has Tweeted an apparent interest in making Psychonauts 2 episodic!

Earlier today, he posted: "Let's split it up in episodes! Episodic gaming is the future!"

Whether he was serious or not remains to be seen. He's also cautioned the world to, "please don't get your hopes too high yet. Everything is extremely vague!"

Far too late for that, Mr Persson!

Bah, episodic gaming is the future of nothing. Most of the time, you need all the episodes to get the full story, so it's pointless.

It's just a bastardization of Shareware, which also had episodes, but all in one, with the first one being free. And playing and beating that first one usually took longer to beat than all the episodes combined in today's episodic games.

Why pay 7.99 for an hour and a half of gameplay, then wait a month to play another hour and a half, and so on and so on. I'd rather the developer just be competent, release an early demo/beta if they need feedback, and OMG, release a full length game all at once.

Tim also said: "But… on the topic of using non-traditional game funding to fulfill fan requests, we WILL be making an announcement later today"

As we say in Sweden: "¿Qué?".
Hell, I live pretty close to his office, I might pop by and make you guys a special House of Mojo In-Depth reportage if you require it. I've known some guys who has visited him and he's a bit quirky but friendly and shows a lot of hospitality.
