Plottings At The Ranch of Skywalker 04 Jul, 2009, 20:50 / 13 comments

According to their Twitter feed, LucasArts are plotting something interesting that will be revealed Monday.
Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!
They go on to say: "it is awesome news for our old school fans", "something I was asking for since before I worked at LucasArts", "It doesn't have to do with any specific intellectual property", "nothing to do with new IP", and "Mortimer and the Riddles of the Medallion 2?".

Not new IP, not any specific game or series, but something old-school fans will enjoy and is long overdue? Methinks re-release combo packs are coming soon... or maybe a full-scale assault on GOG perhaps?

    Partnering with Steam.

    Oh well.

ScummVM works perfectly, so a giant vista-compatible lec adventure collection wouldn't be that exciting. plus, it's not really that hard to find the original games, even legally.

honestly, i wish it was related to a specific franchise, but maybe it will still own.

I dont know... being able to pick up all the titles in a compilation (or even in a few, classic archives style) for like 30-40 bucks does seem like a pretty exciting thing. particularly for those who dont have them yet (not me) and are currently staring at a 70-100$ auction or amazons ridiculo-prices. Especially if said compilation included the 256 color version of Zak currently only available for an obscure japanese computer format :P

All LucasArts DOS games re-released for Windows. There's my prediction. If I win, I want those Mojo Cookie Pirate points, damn it!

Downloadable XP / Vista compatible LucasArts classics direct from the Star Wars store, surely?

    And xbox live / Wiiware / PS3-whatever- it's-called too?

GOG would be cool, but I want new boxed copies! That would be whole new levels of OMG.

Haha, I think LucasArts characters are contracted to appear in the Soul Calibur series actually... it would be awesome if LeChuck appeared in those games in fact.
