No more PC? 03 Mar, 2001 / Comments: 17

Also updated on the LucasArts site is the Ask the Team section. This time the question was
Your customers are now seeing an almost total removal of PC games. Is LucasArts ceasing to support the PC and going with Platform games only now?

While development on next generation console systems has become of greater importance to LucasArts over the past few years, the company remains committed to development on the PC. The projects we have in development with Verant, BioWare and Ensemble are the best reflection of that. LucasArts' core legacy is deeply rooted in PC development and will always remain so. Strategically we believe we can strike an appropriate balance between platforms and continue to deliver compelling game play experiences on a variety of systems well into the future.

I agree with Glottis, Lucasarts can now go straight to hell, their best and last good game was CMI, and after that EVERYTING stank, i bought grim, sucked, EMI, i bought it for a reason, but goddamn it just sickened me.

  • Kingzjester on 06 Mar, 2001, 15:55…
No... I mean YES! I loved Grim! I am talking about his "I hate NATO" statement in the address itself...

Screw them. Capitalist bastards. This used to be a form of art--games--then companies discovered that money could be made of it... Up until they threw out Shaffer &co. this wasn't true for LEC--they weren't as money oriented... I'll light them a candle and pray for their soul, eventhough I'm an existentialist...

    huh? calm down

I find it amusing that people get so angry and violent when it comes to a computer game company. They make just that. Games. Calm down and get angry over something that's actually important to our well being. As long as LucasArts continues to make a few story-driven games, I'll be a fan.

And that's the problem: most people will play *anything*, especially when there's no choice. LEC's finally realized it. It's a shame because they used to be a kind of an elite. When they released a game there was no doubt it would be great and - most of all - one of its kind. What's happening now is very disappointing.

Of course it's very easy to sit back in a comfortable chair and criticize a company from afar. We don't have all the information needed to jump to conclusions about what the company does and why.
  • RappScallion on 04 Mar, 2001, 19:46…
Whatever their reasons are, they're just not as good as they used to be. Evidently, a lot of people share my opinion and everyone has the right to express it. We're the ones who buy the games after all. "You don't have to buy it" you may say. Sure I don't. Though I still believe LEC has a potential and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

Is the PC games are like Emi.. no thanks
  • penbrook on 03 Mar, 2001, 19:12…
haha. well i liked the idea that they tried. But i mean, come on, Adventure Games are nowheres near dead.
  • Glottis on 03 Mar, 2001, 17:26…
Excuse me, but LucasArts you can go strait to Hell. I mean goddamn it! There wouldn't be a LEC without the computer. Also try to think about were your loyal fan base is.
  • Jake on 03 Mar, 2001, 20:44…
Considering the loyal fan base is important (hello, lec! :) but they also have to make money. You'd think George would just be nice and dump a couple billion their way so they wouldn't have to worry about things like that. Shame that's not the case :(

Bullshit. Who cares about some third-party Star Wars crap scheduled for no-one-knows-when. We want real games! BTW: I hate that diplomatic tone of the "enthusiastic group of LucasArts employees". It was better when they updated twice a year and didn't try to talk to fans.
