New poll: How much did you donate? 16 Feb, 2012 / 21 comments

In our new poll we ask how much you donated to the worthy case of the Double Fine Adventure. Was it a single dollar or did you see triangles in the distance and pledged a 150 grand? Go vote! (it's all anonymous, but feel free to spill the beans in the comments)

Our previous poll shows that most people own several consoles, if not all of them. Many of you also own at least one current generation console as well as no consoles. People with only old consoles do not exist among Mojo's readers:

What consoles do you own?
All of them! (Well, several current gen. consoles)
13
One current generation console (e.g. PS3, Xbox 360, DS, etc)
12
No consoles. Just my trusty PC/Mac
10
Only an older console (eg. PS2, Xbox, Atari 2600, etc.)

I initially put it at $250, but after the new tier and the success so far I raised it to $525.

I have big faith in this project and felt it was something I could do back for the impact those games have had on my life. Hopefully they can live up to their expectations. If they can, this could be a new model for them, otherwise it will be challenging...

I had previously donated $15 because generally I'm pretty tight with my money. After seeing it hit the 2 Mil mark I just had to up the stakes and grab myself some of that sweet credit-ity goodness. Much to my surprise a few days later the rewards for my tier had gotten even better. Can't wait too see what they people at Doublefine and 2 Player Productions have in store for us.

I couldn't really miss it, but I donated $110,-- none the less. It's just a project that I have a lot of confidence in, and it deserves the kind of money it's getting. I just hope it ends up like Full Throttle or Grim Fandango or something!

if I could pay I would do it. But I don't have a CC and I don't live in the US or know someone who does. It's pretty lame and DoubleFine won't change it. I just hope to get my hands on some of the specialties they're offering for the backers.

Double Fine CAN'T change it. It's a restriction of Kickstarter, and the reason for that is that Amazon Payments was the only provider that would support their unusual funding model, as I understand it.

Even if the game ends up not being "epic", it really can't be that bad for a 15 dollar game lol.

I'm sure it will never be as bad as Telltale's new """"games"""".

"""""""""""""games""""""""""""" is the word, well said

It'll be too late to pledge by then. Which perhaps you don't mind, but personally I'd be a bit sad to miss out on the fun of the next several months. Isn't that worth a $15 punt?

I'm not sure if I really want to get all that involved... I'd be just as happy to pay for the game when it's released. But yeah, I might as well give the money now... there's still a few weeks for me to change my mind. :)

Your card won't be charged until funding day in 25 days, no reason to wait.

Didn't know that, I'm raising my pledge at once. Thanks!

Gave one symbolic buck just for now, I'm waiting to get some money. I'm going to give 30$ anyway, I want that documentary and soundtrack bonanza.

I didn't give anything yet. I kind of want to know what the game is going to be about first.

Very unlikely, Strayth, that they'll announce anything of that kind until after funding day in 25 days time. They've said that they want to capture the -whole- process, and I doubt they're willing to make a start until the money is in the bank.

they will have to get some incentives soon, I guess. Maybe something like: if we hit 3M, we show some never seen before cool concept art of monkey island / GF / psychonauts 2 / whatever.
Still don't understand why they're not adding other pledge/backer options. Anyway, they are on course to make 2.5M now, hopefully 3M is still possible :)

Remember that game is basically NOTHING.

If they do come up with concepts (arts and gameplay), be sure it will pretty much reach 3M. If not, I guess 2M is fine since they have no plan for dubbing in other languages.

And I did give 20 dollars. I'm a student and I barely have enough to eat every day so that's really not much but I couldn't afford more... (but I'll buy an Iphone version when it comes out)

I knew making some announcements would give the funding a boost, but I wasn't prepared for this much of a boost. They're making about 4-5 times what they were making before the announcement, and it's only started to slow down just now as Europe starts going to bed.

It's difficult to know what kind of announcements will have that effect again (I doubt a future update will have quite as profound an effect. But if we take a guess that they provide a two or three more updates in the next few weeks, and each of those provides a small boost, and also take a guess that there might be a last minute rush of pledges, but that the base level of pledges will stay quite low...

I think they could scrape 2.5m, now. I still think 3 million is unlikely unless they pull something out that's incredibly unexpected.

$260. Eventually I'll find something to do with my small collection of signed Ron Gilbert things.

If there was an iPad option, I'd have ticked that. Also $35 donation to Double Fine.
