New Poll: Mojo Breaks A Lot 11 Jan, 2003 / Comments: 26

The New Years poll is over. Apparently Mojo's New Years resolution is 1024x768 with a 47% vote, silly and overused as that joke may be. Our second most popular new years resolution is to quit sucking up to LucasArts (*cough cough*) with 17%, and third most popular was a tie between stopping with the bad jokes and stopping with the fingernail biting at 11%.

With New Years out of the way its time for a new poll. Mojo sucks, you know it, we know it. It breaks all the time. The current poll asks What breaks Mojo for you? Note that we left "excessive downtime" off the list, as we knew it would destroy the rest. Yes sadly "excessive downtime" is the "Monkey Island" of "what breaks Mojo" polls.

Just to let everyone know, the "the community tab never gets updated anymore" option was included because the server broke it, not because we are lazy and never update it anymore. That section was never updated by hand, but was done by the server.

    Can it be fixed?

I think you guys are too hard on the staff at Mojo. Sure, content might have lessened, but at least they can update the news and get new reviews and interviews. I tried to run a site that had news updates, reviews, and previews, etc., and it failed because I didn't have the ability to get information about updates, which is, in essence, everything. Sure, only some parts get updated lately, but it's better than "Last Updated August 2001" on the bottom of the page...

Thanks, but I have to say... the content has lessened? I'm wondering if people just romanticize what Mojo used to be, because we update the news and have features now more than we ever did. Maybe people are thinking back to the 1997 and 1998 days when we actually had pure adventure games to talk about. Back when people were just REALLY excited to read anything about them.

Hell, I don't know. But thanks for the positive words.

He probably is just bringing up that we have zero game information in the form of hints, eggs, screenshots, etc. anymore.

    Coming soon!!
  • Jake on 11 Jan, 2003, 22:11…
Yes. Sadly at this point we can't have a full week's worth of news that is entirely dedicated to, say, interviews with the designers of Grim Fandango and Curse of Monkey Island -- while they were still working on those games!

You need to add another option.

"Mojo never adds needed updates - hasn't the Downloads section been missing for a year now?"

It's really a shame that MojoDownloads is seemingly dead.
I want the cool MI music MP3's of LucasFans back!
  • Remi O on 11 Jan, 2003, 17:18…
Feel free to download them here.

Mark Rein...the name's so familiar...care to identify him? I'm thinking Unreal for some reason, but that's just a crazy thought at the back of my head.
