More Official Nostalgia 30 Jun, 2002, 23:35 / 11 comments

There's a new poll up at the official LucasArts website related to the the LEC 20th Anniversary theme. This time around, LucasArts.com asks: When did you first play a LucasArts game?

I remember my first LucasArts gaming experience fondly. The year was 1992, and I stumbled upon the work of genius that is none other than Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for Super NES. From then on, I was hooked.

Can I just point out that SUPER EMPIRE STRKES BACK was the worst SUPER STAR WARS game on the snes. Still fun but much better on the emulators, you can save whenever you want and won't have to reset after playing for 4 hours because of an annoying bug when you faught vader. I will never forget when for some unknown reason I lost all force powers at the start of the level and couldn't jump to one of the high platforms. Damn, still makes me made today *fumes at annoying bug*.

My first experience with LucasArts (or Lucasfilm Games) occurred back in 1992. I was in a dollar store and they had a copy of Ballblazer for the Atari 7800. Holy cow did that game rock! One of the greatest games for that system.

My first LEC adventure game was The Secret of Monkey Island. I had played the demo disk and was hooked, and I have been ever since.

First time I played a Lucas game was back in the early 90's. Monkey Island 2 on the PC and X-Wing. Since then, whenever I see the purple and gold logo I get shivers down me timber, erm, spine.

I remeber the first time so well =)
I played the german version of MI1(1990) at my aunts home in germany. Even though I was too small to understand the jokes and all the puzzles and did not know a word german, I loved it from the first minute I tried it,
    that's nostalgia =D

The first LEC game I got was Maniac Mansion. It was horrible! I couldn't even get into the house! I was so desperate that I tried typing commands to climb into the chimney. This tactic proved very useless, until I put to use again in Day of the Tentacle. The first LEC game I actually got into was The Secret Of Monkey Island. It was then that my weird little monkey fetish began to take shape.

And that, my friends, is the story of my life.

Way back when Monkey Island was new, I was looking over the shoulder of my neighbor. He rarely let me play when he was, but i do remember him being so nice as to let me sit on the floor and play with the dial-a-pirate. I didn't get the game until the Classic Adventures from LucasArts 5 game box came out. I devoured those games.

Well, as for over-the-shoulder LEC experiences, I saw Maniac Mansion being played at my friend's house sometime in the late 80's, but didn't play it myself.

I started out with Secret of Monkey Island on my old Amiga 600, but didn't really know anything about that crazy company Lucasfilm Games untill I found out that another favorite game of mine, Maniac Mansion, which I played on a friend's computer, was made by THE SAME PEOPLE! And that's when I decided to Love Lucasarts.

I first played Zak McKracken when it was new at a friends on an Amiga. I played Monkey Island 1 when that was new, but didn't realise they were by the same company. I only found out when I eventually got my hands on Zak and played it through. Before then, I'd assumed it was a Sierra game.

Nintendo Power made me really, really want Maniac Mansion, and ever since that fateful night I found a used copy of it at Fred Meyer, I was hooked on Lucasfilm Games.

The NES Maniac Mansion had some great music. Seriously.
