Remember when Gabez proclaimed that Monkey Island was hip? Well, apparently he was ahead of his time, as the Special Edition is now available in the iPhone App Store for $8.

While I haven't tried it yet, it comes with both the new music and voice over, as well as the "classic" edition. The interface is, obviously, a bit different, but hey... True point and click!

Now run out and be hip like Gabez, and play Monkey Island on your iPhone.

    I bought it, and while it's awesome to have MI on the iphone, I don't have the voices. I have the music alright, but no voices. And the point'n click feels like it wasn't optimized at all for iPhone unfortunately. The pointer doesn't follow the finger very well and often lags behind, forcing you to swipe 3-4 times before you reach the object you wanna interact with.

    Really sad, but let's hope for an updated version soon!

    yeah, the pointer doesn't work in the traditional iphone way, in that it doens't move directly under yor finger. but once you get used to it, it actually works really well. Essentially you use the screen as a trackpad to move the pointer.

    As for the sound, I had problems with that too. Make sure you're iPhone is not in silent mode. For some reason silent mode kills the voices but not the music.

    Once you get used to the pointer system, it's fucking awesome. Although a bit fiddly, for example taking the mugs of grog to free otis it particularly frustrating. Took me four attempts!

    No, it replaces Sam&Max from the original, since they no longer hold the rights for that.
