I'll try to address all of your questions. First, who chose the nominees? Nominees were chosen by 20 randomly selected people in the Monkey Island Community. Second, why are dead sites nominated? This contest covers the best sites of 2002, wether active for the whole year or not. Third, why do the awards give me an urge to dismember the organizer? I'm sorry, I should have taken more time to organize the awards. Hopefully they will be better in years to come. In fact, I'm looking for a prominent member of the community to orchestrate new awards for next year or sooner. Thanks for voting...

How do you select people randomly?

I was hoping nobody would ask me that... I actually wrote down about fifty people in the Monkey Island community who weren't staff members of any popular sites, and picked them out of a hat. A very scientific process indeed.

I wanted to be a jerk and vote for all the dead sites. That's not fair.

This contest/awards thing is VERY questionable.

YES - i think so, too. ... the selection doesn't work out no matter how you look at it.

no award is better than one award - there's really no use for something like that - when you do a good job then you'll get the feedback from users and know what people think. - however i won't vote.
