Mojo to your ears 04 Jul, 2008, 00:26 / 5 comments

Okay, so against our better judgment The Tingler and I may be attempting to put together some sort of intangible phonetic recording (what some of the more hip kids on the internet might refer to as a "podcast") for the first time ever in Mojo history. The subject? Insecticide - that sort of adventure game about bugs that's currently being released for the PC, and which you may not be as excited about as you should due to the somewhat wonky nature of its public exposure.

Well, as people who've played the game and know it to be good, we want to change that, but we need your help. What do you want to know about Insecticide? What topics would you like us to discuss? What, in your mind, would make for an interesting listen on the subject of Insecticide? Post your ideas in the comments below so that our resultant efforts might be something that's only mostly awkward and weep-worthy, rather than entirely.

What could've their marketing done better to get this game more exposure (or better press)? what would you guys have done if you were marketing this game?

The game "uses" the adventure genre and the action genre as narrative devices to tell a story. This concept looks to be more important than any deep game design involved with each action and adventure element, which could appear shallow. I think this it the thing you have to accept to like the game: the whole is more important than its single parts.

I would like to know when is the second episode due and how does the divide between the two exactly work. Is there actually any story or gameplay related reason to treat them as separate entities?

Is it fun? Is it worth the money? Are the action sequences frustrating? Is the story on par with the great adventure games from the days of yore?

As an owner of the DS version of the game, I'd like to know more about the improvements present in the PC version. I'm particularly interested any expansion in the game's story or atmosphere; one thing that bothered me particularly strongly about the DS game is that Chrys's team is introduced early in the game and characterized through the puzzles that relate to them, but then completely disappear. Is there more to them in the PC version?
