LucasArts skids of the Traxion 05 Jan, 2007, 16:57 / 21 comments

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, so I'll do it quickly: Traxion has been canceled. Luckily this means we don't have to add it to our games database from where it was conspicously missing.

Now let's have a moment of silence.

"Kuju can confirm that we have agreed to sever the development relationship with Lucas Arts in respect of the Traxion game shown at E3 last year. For reasons of confidentiality we can make no specific comment about the termination of the relationship; however we can say that Kuju Brighton is committed to continue developing innovative lifestyle and music based games and we hope to be able to make a more specific announcement about the future of games based on our award winning music analysis technology in the near future."

Actually it sounded sorta neat. Kuju are pretty good at making games, and the premise reminds of that weird vector game on the original Playstation. And there was another game that got some good reviews with the same premise as well, I think it was PS2. Oh well.

I don't understand the title of this story "LucasArts skids of the Traxion".

  • clone2727 on 07 Jan, 2007, 20:10…
Maybe it should be "off" instead of "of" ?
  • jp-30 on 07 Jan, 2007, 21:02…
    Aha.

I do think this is a bit silly of LucasArts, though. I mean, if you're going to make something like Traxion, then at least complete it. I don't understand the sense in cancellation.
  • jp-30 on 05 Jan, 2007, 22:54…
The story seems like the makers may shop it to another publisher.

  • Gabez on 05 Jan, 2007, 23:47…
That would make more sense, but even so, LucasArts have still, pressumably, put a lot of money into the project that will go to waste.

MrManager spelled "off" wrong in the news title. Tsk tsk.

Saddest day of my life. I just don't know If I could bare it if Thrillvile's sequel gets cancelled too. If that happens my life would be meaningless... (yes, even MORE)

And now a few words on this dark day:

Dear Traxion, few of us knew exactly what you were meant to be. But that's not the point is it? because I know much of the people present here had good feelings for you lovely Traxion. I promise I'll take care of your big brother Thrillville. I will always remember you Traxion, I LOVE YOU!

Oh god, I can't take....it's too much...I need to cry in the bathroom.

You should set up a fan site for Traxion.

    Let's never forget;

"Gaming and music combine like never before on your PSP in Traxion -- where your tracks drive the action. Loaded with dozens of minigames and a variety of music from leading artists -- and fully compatible with every MP3 file on your memory stick -- Traxion sucks you in as the music not only provides the soundtrack, but also changes the way the games are played! Imagine the rocking guitar chords of heavy metal, the strong beats of rap, the smooth tones of jazz, or even the crazy pace of polka -- all impact gameplay in a different way. Traxion's unique music analysis tool allows for your favorite tunes to drive the gameplay, resulting in a dazzling visual and sensory experience that is different every time you play. And because you control the music, infinite possibilities for personalized gameplay experiences exist. Change your tune and change your game when Traxion, developed by Kuju Entertainment, releases this fall."

Oh, that's why it was cancelled. It was coming out for the PSP. So they will, in fact, BE saving money with this cancellation.
  • Gabez on 05 Jan, 2007, 22:01…
    Er, what?
  • jp-30 on 05 Jan, 2007, 21:54…
    I'll start the internet petition.
  • valkian on 05 Jan, 2007, 22:12…
Let me know when it's ready, so I can be the first one to sign it.
  • MrSneeze on 05 Jan, 2007, 19:59…
Let's send them lots of hatemail, and upload myriads of Traxion fanpages all over the net.

On second thought, let's just send them generic hatemail.

An original LucasArts game being cancelled at the eleventh hour? Where have I heard that before?

Don't really care about this one, though.
  • Dalixam on 05 Jan, 2007, 18:22…
    Noooooooooooooooooo...

Honestly, I never understood what it was. Probably because I didn't pay attention to it.
