LucasArts' non-Star Wars MMO!? 11 Feb, 2008, 04:42 / 13 comments

It can only mean one thing... Monkey Island Online.

Or read the vague statement here and jump to your own outrageous conclusion!
Those Artistic Lucases already have a second online title planned that I've heard has nothing to do with Star Wars.

So you want to be a pirate, eh? You look more like a flooring inspector.

And even more recently,
Star Wars Galaxies will shut down within a year after the release of the new MMO. The Artistic Lucases think that they have the only IP that can pose a serious challenge World of Warcraft and find that the setting of KOTOR is too niche to be a threat. They apparently expect the new Star War MMO to have at least three million subscribers by the end of the first year.

If that's true... then what is the Bioware/LucasArts deal about? It can only mean a proper single-player KOTOR3!

I don't think that LucasArts has the balls, I mean brains, to make another Monkey Island title.

Hmm, boring but easy guesses: Indiana Jones MMO (if they could work the deal for Lara Croft you'd have the ultimate dead guy storage facility raiding MMO), Thrillville MMO (apparently people actually bought Thrillville and an MMO version can't be that tough to build... we'll just make the many MMO players the amusement park visitors...)

Pardon my cynicism... Possibly interesting possibility: Habitat 2

I think Thrillville Online is the closest guess.

In all honesty it'll either be a new franchise, or at an outside chance a spinoff of Fracture.

I can't see how an Indiana Jones MMO would possibly work.

It wouldn't, hence my attempt at snark in saying that maybe they should at least round up all two video game archetypes so that players would have the full choice of being the random minion saved or killed at the last minute by the nazi hunter himself or "british big boobs". :-P

But with Ward gone, where are our assurances that it will be Insanely Great?
