LucasArts 'hasn't made a good PC game in a long time' 18 Oct, 2008 / Comments: 5

Yeah, blindingly obvious. But it's always fun to read that coming from the mouth of the president of the PC Gaming Alliance.

Videogamer.com is reporting that in an interview with Randy Stude, he slams LucasArts over the ridiculous excuses given for not releasing The Force Unleashed on PC given by LucasArts' Cameron Suey.
Stude said: "That's not an educated answer. In the last several years there have been at least 100 million PCs sold that have the capabilities or better of an Xbox 360. It's ridiculous to say that there's not enough audience for that game potentially and that it falls into this enthusiast extreme category when ported over to the PC. That's an uneducated response."
Of course, given that Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings uses he same engine as STFU, it's reasonable to conclude that PC owners will again be left out of LucasArts' plans.

I have to agree with Mr Stude. I think it's getting treated differently because it's been marketed like an Event, vaguely comparably to how Apple Corp acts when it releases crappy Beatles remix cds. It's just a game. They say it's hard to properly scale the physics engine to the wide range of computer setups, but that's never stopped any other company from coming out with a game my PC might need an upgrade to handle. At any rate, with versions being released on everything but PC, I'm sure they could manage; they argue they want everyone to have "the full experience" but I doubt the DS version is "more full" than the PS2, PS3, WII or non-existent PC version would be. I'm sure it truly is an uneducated decision as only a fool wouldn't realize how little it makes sense to exclude every format EXCEPT the PC. I hear they're even making an Atari 2600 port.

OMG! That´s so true! I´m 1 of those ppl that once worship LucasArts (which I first knew as Lucasfilme games). As I said on this site several times, I rest my case on this issue! I luv Spielberg and Lucas for what they accomplished. But on case of Lucas, I thing they only have 1 thing on their mind Star Wars!!!
LucasArts 4 me on the 90s was similar to adventure games (it made go "OH! Soo Cool!" it made me dream. For instance: DIG! which today as A GREAT SOUNDTRACK! Really cool to get some sleep and relax). I worship every single adventure game Lucas as put on the market (MI, Dig, Maniac Mansion, Indys, LOOM, SAM and MAX, etc). But why it stopped?? Sales? I remember when adventure games was dead, someone release the GREAT Syberia!!!!! So COOL game!! Conclusion: I´m know 33 old and I shed tears 4 those moments when there was no internet and I had to solve Indiana Jones and Monkey Island and Loom (there was more like Zak M.) and I was a happy camper!!!!
