LucasArts appoints new President 09 Jun, 2010 / 6 comments

IGN are reporting that the position left when D-Rod unexpectedly left LucasArts has been filled by Paul Meegan.

Before landing president of LucasArts, Meegan was CEO at Epic Games China and held senior positions at Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai and Jaleco Entertainment. He was also the founder of Sinister Games, Inc. and a partner at Axion Pacific Capital.

Here's his Mobygames Profile if you'd like to check his pedigree.

I agree with the yay-sayers. This man has a good rap sheet.

I think I can trust him. If he can give plus-sized princesses a chance to be in video games, maybe he can help support the graphic adventures we desperately need.

I didn't know Epic Games had a China division. What do they do?

I'm telling you right now, Meegan is going to be the best president a company has ever had. I know, because he has been involved in Rayman and more recently on Fat Princess (a game with such a title could never go wrong). And I'm convinced he will restore the balance in the force.

What Jason said. An interesting choice certainly, I just hope he's a long-term LucasArts fan and not a 'Oooh, Clone Wars, that needs exploiting!' type. And an Indiana Jones fan too.

Nice that, like Rodriguez, he's at least got a games industry background instead of just being picked as the result of a Lucasfilm executive Duck Duck Goose game like seemed to be the case with Ward and Hoffman. If he has some semblance of fondness for the LEC back catalog and doesn't prove thoroughly dismissive of the shift Rodriguez was encouraging, that's pretty much all I can hope for.
