Lucas Will Use Disney $4 Billion To Fund Education 01 Nov, 2012 / 3 comments

As George Lucas owns LucasFilm outright, and as the company has little debt, he will be pocketing the majority of Disney's $4 billion himself. And what does it plan to do with this insane sum of money? Put it towards charitable endeavors in education.

As Lucas is already the chairman of Edutopia, which is part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation, it's possible the money may go into that.

"For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company," Lucas said in a statement Wednesday. "As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy."

Move over Bill Gates, there's a new kid on the block.

Jumping on this unnecessary debate, I think Crystal Skull is a far better movie than Episode I. Crystal pales in comparison to the previous Indy films, but on its own it stands alone as a decent adventure movie. While Episode I, on its own, is still crap.
The problem with Crystal, is the script, yet the production is pretty neat, as expected from Spielberg.

Now, regarding all these news. Doesn't this all feel strangely morbid? Like watching George Lucas die? At this point I wouldn't be surprised if there were announcements regarding his plans for his own funeral (which would involve an army of storm troopers, ewoks, a live orchestra conducted by John Williams as well as a reunion of the cast from American Graffiti)

Son of a... alright. Agreed. We'll all make a concerted effort to forgive Phantom Menace, but it's going to take about twice that pricetag to excuse Crystal Skull.

Does this mean we have to forgive him for Episode I now?
