LEGO Star Wars II Demo released 09 Aug, 2006 / Comments: 8
Great news. Still a month out from the release of the new LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy videogame, and already a PC demo has been released.
The demo takes place on the sprawling Tatooine Mos Eisley level and allows you to take control of Luke, Ben, Han, Chewie, R2 and 3PO (plus anybody else if you get to the end and unlock freeplay mode).
There's nothing quite like spinning donuts in your landspeeder and knocking pedestrians flying. GTA Star Wars anyone? Without the hookers of course.
Anyway, it's a 460MB download, available at all the usual places. If you don't know any usual places, try here.
I daresay I'm looking more forward to this thing than any A-list title over the Christmas season. Which is sad. Very. Very. Sad.
The first game was brilliant, and from what I've seen this one improves on it in pretty much every way.
1. Finding loads of scattered bits of LEGO junk around a certain place, then having Luke throw them together to make a shape, THEN having Obi-Wan Force levitate them together... to create my own hand-built Imperial AT-ST! Which I then jumped in and started stomping around the level. Brilliant.
2. Apart from the cheeky smirk on Han Solo's face, finding the Hat Dispenser. A wondrous moment when the Indiana Jones hat came out on Han's head. These guys really like having fun with this...
I really liked free mode playing with the Emperor. He really kicks ass.
I wish Chewie had something other than standard shooting though.
