LEGO Indy game announced 28 Jul, 2007 / Comments: 15

The speculation turned out to be correct, there is a LEGO Indiana Jones game in the works (as indeed are physical LEGO Indiana Jones sets).
Reported by theforce.net:
Probably the biggest new to come from the Lucasfilm presentation is that we can expect a Lego: Indiana Jones video game in the summer of 2008. Comic-Con fans in attendance were then treated to the first ever glimpse of the trailer for the game.

Considering the LEGO sets will be Nazi-less according to inside info, it will be interesting to see what enemies the game uses in the Raiders & Last Crusade levels. Strange it's only covering the first 3 movies, and not the new one.

Update by Jason: Just in case this is significant to anybody, the press release for the LEGO game confirms that the, erm, live action Indy game will take place "a year after The Last Crusade." You know, for any of you who were waiting to peg it in the appropriate place on the Indy timeline, or something.

No Nazis? Um... isn't that like taking the Empire out of Lego Star Wars?

My guess is that this really means "no swastikas," which makes sense since it would be banned in Germany, anyway. The Nazis may also be made more generic. To be honest I think it's a very tough one, representing Nazis in lego.

Can't wait to see Lego Hitler.

    You mean Lego Jim Ward?

    Hee!

The only way to get some old licenses back on the LucasArts Jim Ward wagon, is by hinting at a Full Throttle GTA-clone in his general direction. Or even a Monkey Island GTA-close... *shudders*

Or maybe LEGO Monkey Island would appeal to Jim?
  • MrSneeze on 29 Jul, 2007, 03:12…
They already did that. They called it Escape from Monkey Island.

    LOL.

Then what about Lego Monkey Island: The Original Trilogy?

    2015. Be patient.

Best of all, in the press release Jim Ward assures us that Lego Indy will "provide the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game." Let's face it, the man has a way with words.

    This made me chuckle.

I just wonder whether the same formula that worked with Star Wars will work with Indiana Jones. I mean, how will it be prevented from getting stale and how will they make up for the lack of characters to control?
  • jp-30 on 28 Jul, 2007, 23:44…
In most games you only control one character, so no biggie. You'l probably get the chance to play as sidekicks. I noticed in the trailer the plane pilot appears to be the 2ndary character in the Amazon jungle section.
