In totally unrelated news: the (British) Queen mother is dead... crazy... to celebrate commemorate the occasion I made a picture of what she will look like on monday as she is ressurected like Jesus was this time approx 2000 years ago. I thought I'd share it with you. Isn't Easter a happy time?

(I, of course, loved the Queen Mother and would never wish to offend her maysherestinpeace so don't anyone get angry ok? :)

That picture was really funny Spaff?. It was so funny that I printed it out with the little bit of news you wrote and showed my friends at school. They found it funny and I also showed my RE teacher cos he's got a great sense of humor and I hope to show more friends when I get back to school after the summer holidays.

I'm British and I was utterly appalled by this disgusting picture. It is in the most outrageously bad taste and I think you are sick, Spaff. What this is, is taking a much loved woman and being sacreligous and vandalising a picture of the late Queen Mother. It is unprofessional and irrelevant. Please remove the picture. If not then I will not be visiting this site again. People are still queueing in London to see her coffin where she lies in state at Westminster Hall. This picture is an act of vandalism to her memory and to every reason people loved her. I am distressed that you find Britain's favourite Grandmother so comic when mocked after death.
  • ninty on 08 Apr, 2002, 12:50…
This picture makes a mockery of EVERYTHING Britain has been doing recently. We're on the whole a country proud of our tradition and just because the USA is ruled by some half arsed Tecan oil baron who noone likes doesnt mean that we feel the same way about our royal family. PS. I wasn't overly surprised to find Raven Image dishing out the same peculiar pessimistic and for the want of a better word "smartass" comments that the WOMI forums are simply swamped with. TAKE DOWN THE PICTURE.
  • Muppet on 08 Apr, 2002, 13:56…
Sorry, but what exactly are British people like you and me supposed to "have been doing" recently that the picture's mocking?

I don't remember an over-sized half-robot attacking a castle being in the news recently.

Oh, and for the record, that "half
arsed Tecan oil baron who noone likes" (it's Texan) who is America's President is the same guy the British government couldn't agree more with at the moment.

Your clever hat is still waiting for collection, should you ever want to use it.
  • Squinky on 07 Apr, 2002, 17:35…
    Hello over react!

Old dead people are funny. No wait, she's royalty. :-O Come on, Americans make fun of dead presidents all the time and we don't whine about it like little pansies.
  • Lympex on 08 Apr, 2002, 09:40…
Maybe he's over reacting maybe he's not. It is not fair for this picture to of been put up. Spaff said he created it before she died which I would not mind at all, but it is the worst possible time for him to post such a picture.

For those who said to my previous post that they wouldn't mind such a thing to be done to their picture think of it in this way instead:

Your mother dies, someone decides to make a horrific picture, totally taking the piss out of her, and posts it on an extremely popular web site for everyone to see.

Now would you find that fair?

To sum what I have said up, its not fair for this sort of thing to be done to anyone, let alone someone who has the repect of so many people, not just in the UK but around the world also.

    Thanks :)
  • Squinky on 08 Apr, 2002, 14:02…
Well I know I would want to be remember as a giant laser shooting robot. I wouldn't really be offended if, oh, say ANYONE ELSE EVER were depicted so. She's not photoshopped onto a porn picture or anything (Although that would be pretty funny), so I don't see the big deal.

    Robots are cool!
  • Lemon Head on 05 Apr, 2002, 01:32…
I'm not saying the queen mum didn't do anything good, but people seem to find it a lot easier to mourn the death of a figure directly in the public eye.

I just find all the commiserations completely superficial. You didn't know her, she didn't know you, the only reason you know about what she did was though a series of telly-obituaries.

The public would therefore see her as a 30 minute clip of filtered narration about 101 years designed to provoke maximum sympathy, and editing out any behaviour considered unseemly in a member of the royal family.

You shouldn't hold such incidents against her, but you should realise that there is a lot more to one person's life than what they show you on the TV and you can't really build a judgment of someone on such biased and carefully monitered material.
  • PTDC on 05 Apr, 2002, 09:50…
Plus, normal tv programs that I want to watch are displaced without any warning to be shown at a later date or never. Thank you very much BBC.
  • Lympex on 04 Apr, 2002, 17:30…
Hi. I was actually quite suprised at Spaff creating this picture, it is in bad taste. I'm not a royalist or anythin, i'm not bothered whether they are there or not. It's simply the fact of disrespect for someone who has died.

I can't say that I would like someone doing that to a picture of me when I die, who HONESTLY wouldn't mind someone doing such a thing to their photography when they die?

I know it may well of been meant as a joke and no harm was meant by it, but i still don't aprove.

Anyway, i have no hard feelins against anyone who has commented, everyone has a right to their own oppinion, hence me puttin down mine. :)
  • Muppet on 05 Apr, 2002, 08:32…
I'd be honoured to have someone draw a picture of me with frickin' laser beams attached to my head. Honestly, throw me a bone here!
  • Muppet on 02 Apr, 2002, 08:33…
    Over-reacting to everything ever?

    By Monkey Island fans?

    Such amazing surprise!
  • Emma on 02 Apr, 2002, 08:34…
    Mapert you amazes me.
  • Erwin_Br on 01 Apr, 2002, 13:23…
Hell, I don't care about this Queen Mother. She died in wealth at age 101 isn't that something we all want?

I'm not offended by Spaff's picture at all, but I can't say it made me laugh or even smile either.

I only think it looks kind of unproffesional on the frontpage of this site. (Okay, maybe you don't consider yourself a pro, that might be my mistake).

Oh and Emma, I think Tall Guy deserves a better reply because he's just voicing his fair opinion as we all do.
  • PTDC on 01 Apr, 2002, 10:21…
I didn't know there were so many royalists about. What we need is another civil war.
  • Tall Guy on 01 Apr, 2002, 10:03…
i aint sayin i knew her but i just think she deserves a little more respect than that. neway its done now lets leave it
  • Gabez on 01 Apr, 2002, 08:19…
I think it's terribly unfair to say that the Queen Mother didn't do a lot of good stuff in her life-time.
  • PTDC on 01 Apr, 2002, 05:59…
Quite possibly the best thing I've seen in a long time, ever. Keep up the good work. Spaff should be Lord Protector of England, warts and all ;)
  • Lemon Head on 01 Apr, 2002, 04:50…
the ex queen did hardly anything in the war, she visited the hard working populace on behalf of public relations, and then went back home to her veal escallopes in white wine sauce.

why should she be more recognized for the war effort than those who were conscripted and then shot if they fought or shot if they didn't.

i could have given a "my husband and i" speech standing on my head. it can be sad when people die but i see no reason to create a pretence of mourning.

I sincerely hope that all you mojo-ers get drunk and dance on my grave when i shuffle of this mortal thingumy - bottoms up.
  • spaff on 01 Apr, 2002, 04:16…
stop gettin annoyed, you dont know her, she wouldnt care if you died. she was cool, and i quite liked her even though she was a gin drinking swan eating maniac. The Queen has lost her sister and mother in the space of a few months whch sucks, but come on, my picture is no reson to get annoyed. I actually made it before she died, but i wanted to share it with you all. ENJOY.

What, no shoulder-mounted rocket launchers? Some cybernetic zombie queen she was.
  • raVen_image on 31 Mar, 2002, 12:49…
I like politically INcorrect behavior. All of this pretense to politness seves no one. Sure its tasteless ... that's what makes it so good, and so honest. Actions like this show the person for what they truly believe.

Everyone who is offended by this has just learned a valuable lesson about the world and the people who inhabit it. It ain't pretty out there ... welcome to the human race.
  • Tall Guy on 31 Mar, 2002, 11:42…
sorry but i really dont see the funny side of this. I thought Mojo was run by decent people, it seems i was wrong. This 'joke' is a fine display of disrespect. not funny guys.
  • Emma on 01 Apr, 2002, 08:07…
    Whatever, dude.
  • Darnn on 31 Mar, 2002, 09:51…
Yes, because, really, you know, if he hadn't said it was just a hoax, we ever would've known.
Nice spelling in the topic, Spaff.
  • Norimaki on 31 Mar, 2002, 09:45…
That news post is a truly horrifying display of really bad behavior and a testament of back-breaking bad taste.

What's more, I think it's really out of place on this site.

There I was thinking Mojo had decent people as staff... And saying that it's just a hoax doesn't really make it any better.
  • bgbennyboy on 31 Mar, 2002, 08:41…
    Brilliant :)
  • Crocodilic on 31 Mar, 2002, 08:11…
you're not a royalist I see. Good good
  • Murray-Mint on 31 Mar, 2002, 07:06…
That joke is in poor taste.
  • Gabez on 31 Mar, 2002, 05:02…
    Heh, cool picture.

Just to reply to Queztone's comment... There is a reason to mourn, since she did so much in her life-time. Like all she did in World War II. But, since you didn't know that, I guess it's okay! :)
  • Deepthought2k on 31 Mar, 2002, 03:48…
I just hope Damien Hurst doesn't get anywhere near Winsor right now.
  • QueZTone on 31 Mar, 2002, 02:57…
ahh for crying out loud, i didnt know the woman, she didnt know me. if i'd die she wouldnt mourn. so i dont mourn if she dies. thousands of ppl die daily. at least she had a long life. good for her. touche.

    =]
  • QueZTone on 31 Mar, 2002, 03:00…
    lol pretty neat pic..

so i heard about Terminator 3 featuring a female baddie too heheh. Could that be her? :P
  • Dark Comet on 31 Mar, 2002, 01:12…
This is in pretty poor taste. I mean, the Queen mother as a robot? What ever happened to respect and dignity in this country?
  • Kingzjester on 30 Mar, 2002, 20:08…
Hm! I'm not really familiar with the British monarchy as of late nor with popular sentiments on the subject, so what DO you have against the kind, old, dead Methuselah?
