Oh, give me a break. We have four reader opinions for the The Secret of Monkey Island article so far. Four. Is that a joke? Send in something or you're banned.

Thanks! :-)

Update: A few people have asked for a deadline on this. If you intend to send in a Reader Opinion, please do so by this Friday, the 20th. Ye land lubbers.

I guess I can contribute this so here goes: It was good.

Honestly, show me one person who didn’t like this game. There might as well be a comment that reads, “The Secret of Monkey Island is one of the greatest games ever made, PERIOD” - Humanity.

Might I offer up this chestnut?

Hopefully this, especially the post-grade "If you liked..." section, will get some of you lazy folks fired up.

The conversations are pretty good as well, though they do get repetitive sometimes, and you can't click through them (I hate that). - WTF? If he had read the manual he would have known that . is for skipping dialogue.

    Stupidity is not an excuse.

Speaking of which, did what's his face croak yet?

Wow, that review was awful, almost as if the guy went in hating it before even starting not to mention the contradictions. He says, “The game is actually quite well-written, with terrific jokes and humor throughout.” followed by his saying that he hated the juvenile humor. Wasn’t that whole point of the game to make light of Pirates while telling a fun story?

I also liked the “it all seemed terribly trivial” comment, as that’s true for all games. Like it or not, at the end of the credits, all you’ve really accomplished was to kill time in front of a computer. I wouldn’t call that a review as much as it’s ramblings of a crazy person yelling “Pay attention to me!” by trashing something that’s like by everyone else.

Sure there may be people that didn’t care for the game but I think they can come up with better reasons to hate it other than the inventory being too cluttered and taking them 20 hours to finish.

    Final Grade: D

    If you liked that review:

    Play: In the street

Most tragically is that Mojo itself has published some similar gems in the past, which we've obliterated the links to but which you may be able to find if you look hard enough. (Note that Gabez changed the MI1 score from 2.5 to 4.5 just to make it look better.)

  • Udvarnoky on 17 Jun, 2008, 18:50…
Well, see, we didn't publish it yet. That's why we're still asking for contributions. :)
  • Haggis on 17 Jun, 2008, 18:13…
Just to be sure, did you receive my submission? I wouldn't want to be banned. :P
  • Udvarnoky on 18 Jun, 2008, 00:23…
    Unless you additionally sent in a standard reader opinion, I have your contribution. ;

Out of curiosity, around when is the deadline?

I definitely intend to to add to this one as well, this game inspired such fanatic devotion in me that i have regularly destroyed my bank account to try to get all known releases :)

Right now im a bit too tired to do my opinion justice though, in this last post for example, while writing it i seemed to want to want to use the word definitely in every sentence i wrote
  • Shmargin on 17 Jun, 2008, 14:14…
    Definitely.

Mojo users pass to the left.
  • Glo_kidd on 17 Jun, 2008, 15:56…
lol, yeah this was definitely one of those "just wait until tomorrow instead of trying to post while your passing out at the keyboard" moments
  • Glo_kidd on 20 Jun, 2008, 01:48…
OK i just sent mine via email, i look foward to seeing how it all turns out :D

Gabez caught this typo long before you did; I'm on the street as I type this.
