Insecticide PC - Half-Price, Half-Game 18 Dec, 2009, 13:31 / 9 comments

Thought we'd forgotten about Insecticide, the quirky shooter/adventure hybrid from Mike Levine and Larry Ahern? Never! And if you made the grievous error of not picking up the PC version, well good news - GamersGate are currently offering it 50% off at the low, low price of $7.49.

Bargain, although GamersGate fails to remind customers the sad fact that this is only Part One, with the second half stuck in limbo. Do the game a favour - pick it up, then when you've finished head over to the Crackpot videos page to complete the story - um, when Mike or Larry actually get round to sticking the remaining cutscenes up.

Let's just hope one day we get to end Chrys's case properly... and I don't mean on DS.

So maybe one day someone will release part 2? The DS version is okay and all, but I want to look at it on my PC monitor.

The first episode was one of my favorites of 2008 and the first time since Grim Fandango I truly felt like I'm playing a game in the style of great old LucasArts. Too bad we won't see the second half.

I bought the Steam version when it was released, and I can´t recommend the game to anyone. It wasn´t particulary good in any way at all, and since its incomplete becasue episode 2 won´t get released, its even harder to recommend. I actually contacted Valve and them remove the game from my games list.

Even though you want to these developers to do well, they must produce better games than this to earn our money. Save your cash for something else than this.

Your take on the game is pretty harsh and you don't do anything to elaborate on it, but I do agree that it's hard to ask someone to invest in a game that won't be completed.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked it up now, but I did also get it on the DS. I haven't gone (or tried) to go to the links for the cinematics in case the second part of the game does get to see the light of day.

I know you haven't fixed the link yet, but I'm curious to know what you're going to fix it to - last I check Crackpot's youtube page still only featured the cinematics for the first eight cases.

Also, it's incredibly lame of Southpeak to sit on this game and let it rot. At the time it certainly sounded like Part 2 was complete and just awaiting a release that never game. How hard could it be to put the remainign ten missions on Steam and be done with it so I can hear all the voicework and appreciate the environments?

Bah, yeah, sorry guys. I didn't check the link first to see if the new ones were up... then I forgot to include it anyway!

    And yeah, it still sucks.

I really want to play this. It's too bad it got screwed over. That game was a Wii game. It had an interesting look and interesting ideas. It deserves better.
