I am Chaos. Join me. 23 Apr, 2008, 22:48 / 19 comments

With our most recent "Secret History" article published, it's now once again time for you guys to send in your reader opinions for the next one. The game we'll be giving the treatment to next month is of course the beloved Brian Moriarty fantasy Loom, and we need you to send in your thoughts on the game for inclusion in the appropriate section of the article.

What, you've never heard of Loom? What, are you an idiot? Go download the game e-mail LucasArts, who surely wouldn't discontinue the printing of such a significant title, about ordering a copy. They don't have it listed in their online store, but that's just because they want you to ask about it.

The Loom article will be published online in May, and I hope in the meantime you guys play or replay Loom in celebration. Anybody manage to get past the part with the tent?

Loom has an unsolveable puzzle if I remember correctly. When you get to the bit with all the SHEEP make sure you get the draft from that shepherd who's ASLEEP - that's all I have to say.
  • NatsFan on 26 Apr, 2008, 17:04…
Actually, that draft isn't necessary. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil anything.

Crikey, I'm not sure I'll be able to play that game, I'm quite busy these days... :(
  • neon_git on 24 Apr, 2008, 14:45…
It's like, 2 hours long ... or were you being sarcastic? I just can't tell :( Damn internet!
  • Haggis on 24 Apr, 2008, 15:37…
Actually, I really had no idea it was so short! In that case, I might give it a go.

    Loom?
    Loom?
    Never heard of it.

    Do you remember Bobbin Threadbare?
    Er... no.
    Exactly.
  • neon_git on 24 Apr, 2008, 00:19…
This is my all time favourite LucasArts game so I might actually get around to contibuting this time. Maybe.
  • Kroms on 23 Apr, 2008, 23:06…
Wow, I really haven't played a lot of LucasArts games. Roll on Monkey Island.
  • Udvarnoky on 23 Apr, 2008, 23:07…
    How about correcting that, fool?
  • Kroms on 23 Apr, 2008, 23:42…
    If I find them :P Let's see...What have I played and finished?

Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island 1-4, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max Hit the Road. I'm going to play Full Throttle in the summer because I left it at home....And I'm not a big fan of Indy (I only saw the third one).

So I guess I'm just going to have to play Loom.
  • jp-30 on 24 Apr, 2008, 02:34…
I'm also going to have to play it.

I found a copy of it under the dog a while back, with 256 colour graphics & speech pack. W00t!
  • neon_git on 24 Apr, 2008, 04:23…
Do people hide a lot of things under your dog?
  • The Tingler on 24 Apr, 2008, 06:46…
Maybe the Holy Grail's under it?
  • neon_git on 24 Apr, 2008, 14:47…
Oh man, The Last Crusade should totally have ended under a dog in jp-30's house.
  • Udvarnoky on 24 Apr, 2008, 15:31…
I'm relieved that JP was referring to something so innocuous, and not this like some ethically-challenged person might.

(Note: When you apply the patch the game is going to have huge syncing problems with the voices due to a bug. It will run perfectly through SCUMMVM though.)
  • Zaarin on 24 Apr, 2008, 00:22…
Oh, you will play Fate of Atlantis. It's excellent, even if you don't like Indy.
  • Kroms on 24 Apr, 2008, 00:27…
    I'm about to be molested, aren't I?

I'll play them just as soon as I see the movies. I only saw Last Crusade when I was a kid (several times, though).
  • The Tingler on 24 Apr, 2008, 06:45…
No, don't be silly now. We wouldn't touch you with latex gloves on!
