Easily beating the Brutal Legend trailer for sheer brilliance (no, sorry, poor lie), GameSpot have a new Video Preview and, um, Written Preview for Indiana Jones and the Staff of East London. There's some shots of Fate of Atlantis in action too, along with a very nice segue from the game's MIDI Indiana Jones theme into the full orchestra version. Game's looking good too, surprisingly.

More gameplay videos can be found on their page here, as well as a load of new screens.

Looks like a rehash of Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb. No point in playing this game for me.

Why Can't Lucasarts just release FOA on Virtual Console? Then Everyone would be happy.

It wasn't even LEC's idea to have it as an easter egg, apparently, but rather the developers at A2M.

Also Wii's Virtual Console only has games that are on old consoles, which FOA wasn't. GOG.com would be a better fit.

For Virtual Console and Indy though, I'd much prefer Infernal Machine on N64.

What about WiiWare? A better question would be, why the hell is Maniac Mansion not on the Virtual Console?
  • Udvarnoky on 03 May, 2009, 02:17…
The NES version of Maniac Mansion should absolutely be on the VC. It's true that there's no PC category, but they have a C64 category (the original version of Maniac Mansion and Zak could be put there), and they recently added an arcade one, so at that rate it's not like it couldn't happen someday.

Really though the obvious thing to do would be for LEC to put all their adventures on a Wii disc and be done with it. Assuming there are no space issues, they could put Grim and EMI on there too - the nunchuck should cover the control scheme for those games.

    Look great and this action.

    Bad thing I can´t play it! :(

Good to know that the game "seems to be heading in the right direction" when it comes out in a month.

Bah, they went with some Adlib crapola for the FOA music. :(
  • Udvarnoky on 02 May, 2009, 17:32…
The Adlib music is what I grew up with, so I'm quite happy.
  • counting_pine on 03 May, 2009, 04:01…
That's not Adlib music. Compare with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET_98IcvoTI

Sounds like this was run in ScummVM through standard Windows MIDI. I think it suffers from the change in instruments. But I couldn't say whether the MIDI instruments are worse, or whether I'm just used to the Adlib synth, meaning I can focus more on the music than the limitations.

I grew up with the Amiga soundtrack. I hope I never heard that crap again. :P

Yes, I noticed that. Check out some of the videos GameSpot have got - the one in the jungle is particularly bad. The sound effects are REALLY annoying. I'm also worried that we won't be able to turn off the subtitles, as they seem to be in every video. Hmm.
  • Udvarnoky on 02 May, 2009, 17:57…
Those are the same sound effects I've always remembered...

Looks like it could be fun :)
