Forget the Oscars 11 Feb, 2006, 22:25 / 18 comments

Good news everybody! Lost Cause won a couple of highly prestigious awards. To be precise, it won two!

And whilst I?m on the subject of community events, I thought I?d mention a rumour reported by The Department of Death: seems that an anonymous tipster e-mailed the web-master about Grim Fandango 2 being in the works. There?s almost certainly no truth in the claim, but it's always fun to speculate anyway.

By the way, I'm sorry if the Grim Fandango 2 story I posted on the Department of Death turns out to be completely false, but it seemed feasible enough to be worth mentioning.

Hah, we had so many rumours on The SCUMM Bar back in the day... it's just fun to keep your ear to the ground I think.

The Department of Death mentions a LucasArts studio in Singapore working on this seemingly new update to Grim. I though that was the newly created Lucas animation studio... In that case, perhaps it might be a grim cartoon in the works? [hopes in wain...]

If doublefine was making a grim fandango 2 itd be awesome. I cant wait to hear whats next from doublefine. That would mean that lucasarts sold the rights to grim fandango? If lucasarts is just going to kill all of their classic original franchises they might as well sell them to the people who created them and are passionate about them. That would be too cool. They did it with sam and max. Grim is technically tims isnt it? Well maby not really considering he didnt have the idea and/or a grim comic or something or other before the game... oh well.

I thought he had the idea, not that ideas have any legal weight (just ask Ron!)
  • Nath5000 on 12 Feb, 2006, 15:44…
It could still be possible that doublefine could be a developer of a lucasarts published game couldnt it?
  • Gabez on 12 Feb, 2006, 20:41…
Yeah, I suppose so... I'd never thought of that. It would be cool and fitting if that did happen, though I guess it's not really very likely.

They must've read my comment about making a grim reaper FPS. Promised to contain even more death than the average video game!

In case anyone was curious, Lost Cause is a product of Nightlight Productions, one of the hosted sites. And it took out 'Best comedic or parody series' award, and 'Best Actress'

I heard Double Fine was producing it. Just when Manny thought he was out, they pull him back in again!

And what with that recent lucasarts.com poll about which classics you still play, it must be time to start popping corks. Hoorah!
