Double Fine Trip 30 Jul, 2001, 01:58 / 19 comments

After waiting for 4 weeks or so for Jake to make the graphics for this feature, I finally gave up and made some poor ones myself -- but whats more important is that the report of our trip to meet with Tim Schafer (project lead for DOTT, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) at his new company, Double Fine Productions, is live! We met Tim in San Francisco, where he took us for lunch and stopped us from seeing his new game. However, I assure you that the account is a very worthwhile read!

I wonder if the name "Double Fine" roots in Welles' 1984...newspeak, that is. Well, have a double-good life then!

Its mostly named after the big light up signs on both ends of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco that say "Double Fine Zone." That Orwell thing might be true too. Also something about very small children.

The building that they're in rules. There's so much character there. As for the company itself, I may buy an X Box just so I can play their game, whatever it may be. Wish I could have gone with you guys, though!

I wonder how hard it might be to make an emulator for X-Box games, as it's very close to a real PC except the modified OS and some GPU/SPU stuff.

The fact that Double Fine has a Norwegian on the team just makes it that much better.

Heh, I thought Tim was god-like before, but after seeing the 'Homer in a moo-moo' figurine, I have concluded that he IS God.
