Doktah Jones! Doktah Jones! 10 Sep, 2002 / Comments: 15

The Mojo recently got a chance to "sit down" and "talk" with LucasArts veteran composer Clint Bajakian. In the interview Clint answers questions and talks about his score for the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. This is the first original score that both Clint and LucasArts have done that is recorded by a live, full orchestra. Go now. Go.

The best Indy soundtrack is the Last Crusade, but this one will hopefully be cool. To get the music just run a line out from your X-Box / PS2 to your PC audio in. I did it with Smash Bros. on Gamecube, and Rogue Squadron (which has a soundtrack room, where you can play hundreds of Star Wars tracks)

temple of doom soundtrack on Clint's desk!

Yeah, he had all the Indy soundtracks on his desk when we visited him in his studio. Research! And that's the Japanese import of the Temple of Doom soundtrack, since they didn't print it in America. It's a bit expensive.

    I hope there's a soundtrack album planned...

As far as I know, Williams won't allow soundtrack albums for things based around things he originally scored. So, no :( SCUMMRev it is! Or renaming MP3 files like with EMI :)

My hope is that the PS2 or Xbox version of the game will either use uncompressed audio or very high quality MP3's. That way, you can record the music directly from the game and listen to it on your own. But who knows... they may mix the music with the ambient sounds like they did in CMI, EMI, and Grim. That would be unfortunate.

    :( such a waste

sometimes it sounded cool, i love listening to the temple theme from grim fandago with that quiet wind floating through the track. but having all the chatter and stuff in the casinos etc is annoying

Yeah, that's a good point. Sometimes ambient sounds enhance music. But sometimes I'd just rather focus my attention entirely on the music. That way, you can hear things that you've never heard before.

But hot damn, I'd pay some serious cash to get a hold of the CMI recordings in good quality and minus the ambient sounds!

Of course you would. You're the biggest fiend alive. :)
