Deathspank interview 12 May, 2009, 11:41 / 5 comments

Big thanks to Risine from the forums for pointing this out. RPG Codex has posted an (email) interview with Ron Gilbert about the upcoming Deathspank (he with the Thong of Justice). Some nice little details are given-out, and explanations of things like why the game is no longer episodic. Good read.

Good spot Risine, nice one. It was a good read and there were some interesting questions.

I finally got around to playing the second Penny Arcade game and it's very entertaining - I wonder how similar/different Deathspank'll be.

ps turns out I'm currently ranked 7th in the standings out of everyone who's played episode 1.No really

I always thought that Ultima VII was the perfect amalgamation of an adventure game (tree-like dialogue, interesting characters, lots of item interaction, point&click interface, excellent music) and an RPG (large, detailed open world, character progression, fantasy trappings, quests and dungeon adventuring).

Planescape: Torment disagrees. Lots of talking and lots of decision making. A true paradise for fans of both RPGs and adventure games. It's also the first project Chris "KotOR 2" Avellone worked as the lead designer on, and playing through it will bring tears to your eyes once you fully realize just how effing awesome The Sith Lords could be if LucasArts hadn't done the stupid thing they had.

Let's hope this interview marks the beginning of a period of interviews/screenshots leading up to the release! I can't wait to see how it looks.
