Bounty Hunter Reviewed 01 Jan, 2003 / Comments: 15

Happy 2003! To celebrate the new year, we've done something very special. Well maybe not, but still, it's something worth looking at. Our own Andrew "telarium" Langley reviews Star Wars Bounty Hunter to find out if it's just another soulless cash-in on the Star Wars franchise, or if it's actually a quality product. Find out here!

Hmm, I'm a little bit surprised that YOU, telarium, forget to mention Jeremy's music ;-)

Hehe, actually, I cut that paragraph just before posting the review. There wasn't too much worth mentioning, though... most of the music is recycled Star Wars stuff with the occassional original theme. Nothing very noteworthy (oh the pun!)

Hmm, I thought I've read somewhere the game would contain original music by Jerimy Soule...

I said "most." The game allegedly contains 20 minutes of original music, but it wasn't really all that noticeable... except for the main theme that appears on the menu screens.

I've noticed an odd trend: adventure gamers give the same action games that action gamers rate low, high ratings, while the exact opposite is also true: action gamers give the same aadventure games that adventure gamers rate low, high ratings...

Well I don't know if I agree with that. But if there is a trend, it's probably just a result of different priorities. For example, I don't think adventure game fans are all that concerned with texture bump mapping, high frame rates, progressive scan, and Dolby Digital surround sound. I think we like the really crazy things... like a good story and interesting characters. Weird, huh? :)

i thought this game was pretty lower than a 4.
but i only got to play it for a few hours in a crowded room in london, so i couldnt hear the voices or anything....

level design ph34rs... but much fun with jump pack :)

I'd have given it a 3, noting really poor level design (hello being lost allll the time in the second level!!) and some really really nasty camera bugs (and an overall sad camera). The action in BH is really pretty fun, and the story/cinematics are captivating and well done, and entertaining. I enjoyed the BH cinematics more than Episode II for sure :)

I agree that the level design was a little weak in a few places, but wasn't nearly as frustrating as many of the levels found in Jedi Outcast. Considering 4 out of 5 equals a B rating (or 80%), I really believe the game is worthy of that.

Clint Bajakian did the voice for Jango Fett? I never knew that...
  • telarium on 01 Jan, 2003, 09:32…
Uh, no? It says Jabba the Hutt.
  • BooJaka on 01 Jan, 2003, 10:01…
Did it say that before or am I just blind?
