Batman: The Enemy Within: The Enigma reviewed, high-fived with 12 Aug, 2017 / 3 comments

Yeah, I had expected to turn the snark factor to 11 here, but… The first episode of The Enemy Within is actually good. Very good. I like it. Don’t read this, though; go read the review instead. Then question everything in your life, just like I’m doing right now.

I never made it past the first episode of season one but, based on this recommendation, I gave season two a whirl. Whilst it's definitely a significant improvement, I think calling it "good" is still a bit of a stretch.

I think I'm done with Telltale, which breaks my heart a little bit.

I actually played this just before I read this and I was just as surprised as you are! I've been sick for the last couple of days so I decided to catch up on some low stakes Telltale games, and Batman 1 was just as bad as the Mojo review suggested (although, in my feverish state, often in a hilarious way. I spend and entire scene where Batman's head was on backwards, for instance).

But yes, this first episode was surprisingly promising. The writing and performance is much better, and it's just much more fun to go through than the uninvolving slog that was Season 1. It's a shame that many people might skip this because of that dissappointing first season.

I especially liked the opening scenes, which convinced me that a Telltale James Bond game might just work after all.

Huh! Maybe I'll pick this up!
