The worst-kept Indiana Jones computer game-related secret this year since Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings has now appeared: Lego Indiana Jones II: The Adventure Continues has now been announced at last.

Confirmed for all major platforms (yes, even PC) and obviously based on, at least, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, as well as giving players a level editor at last to add the longevity missing from all the other titles so far.

LucasArts boss Darrell Rodriguez had this to say:
"LEGO Indiana Jones 2 delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on the classic moments from their favorite movies, and their kids have an opportunity to experience the most authentic LEGO experience by building their own fun levels brick by brick."
So "everyone" translates as "parents or kids" does it?

Still, at least it's not 'The Complete Adventures' as many suspected. But will Indy IV be enough for a whole Lego game? And how exactly are LucasArts getting developers owned by other publishers to make games for them?

UPDATE: Teach me to read CVG. According to LucasArts' own press release, it is going to be "The Complete Adventures" as feared.

UPDATE 2: We have a cover.

UPDATE 3: And screenshots, too. There's even a pic of the... very basic level editor.

    Except for the PS2 though, admittedly.

    I have the PC original, but had been looking to get it for the Wii. Now I'll just hold off until this release.

    That last screenie could be a shot of one of the game hubs as I can't place it to a particular film. Looks more like FoA!

    Looks like it was to my advantage to put off buying the original game. Still, a lame move.

    Eh. I bought the original six weeks ago and started it yesterday. It's fun in the lightest possible way, but even it seems too long. Who cares about Crystal Skull anyways?

    A predictable one though, unfortunately.

    Basically this from kotaku
    * New segments added to past chapters
    * More vehicles
    * Indy 4 chapter
    * Level editor

    Travelers Tales although now owned by Warner Brothers have the license for Lego games, Warner turning away more Lego games would be stupid as it ultimately gets a cut of the profits. Likewise Lucasarts could not do a Lego game without TT.

    Erm, think you might have misread the press release there, Tingler.

    It *is* effectively the "complete saga" as it includes "innovative retellings of the stories from all four movies" so basically Lego Indy with extra levels/characters + Crystal Skull.

    Hopefully they'll include Live co-op this time...

    Ah, typical. I read the version on CVG, which totally failed to mention that very important point.

    Hehe, CVG... ;o)

    Wouldn't the most authentic Lego experience be getting the old Lego chest out of the cupboard and start building?
