A very special update 29 Jul, 2010 / 15 comments

You whined and LEC listened. According to our forums the Steam version of LeChuck's Revenge has been patched, fixing many of the audio issues people were complaining about. In other words, the bone song should now be synced.

No word if the other versions of the game have been updated yet.

Update: Full list of Alterations

Direct from LucasArts, here's everything you need to know about the patch, in full:

  • Adjusted timing delays for certain puzzles

  • Fixed missing music in Dinky Jungle

  • Fixed music synching issue with the Bone Dance sequence

  • Fixed various music cross-fading issues

  • Added intro and outro credits sequences to the Classic version

  • Added acceleration curve to cursor speed

  • Increased volume level of “Classic” Chester

Who says LucasArts don't listen to you moaning gits? ;)

I doubt there will be a patch for the intro. It strikes me as a design choice (or a cut for some unknown technicality) more than an oversight.

Right, but it's kind of silly to expect them to prioritize adding a sequence they consciously left out when there are plenty of bugs to fix. That's not to say they don't listen.

Yes, I think it's good that they've addressed these issues and that these were probably of higher importance.

Aha! I saw the game update yesterday but there wasn't any info available at the time about it, good!

It's sad that the new intro plus cool credits music is still missing, but at least the classic version's back - and those bug fixes are very much needed. Guess I'm playing this again!

Oops sorry, for the mispost. Pressing enter to login from the comment window is not recommended.

Anyhow, I imagine the Steam patch came first because it doesn't have to go through certification as do the 360 and PS3 patches. Given their subsequent monetary and time/resource cost, I strongly suspect (though would love to be proven wrong) that this is the final patch we'll see for MI2:SE - in response to the "Well, it's a start." mentality on the forums.

I don't have Steam, and don't really have any desire to get Steam for just one game. Is the patch only being released/applied to the Steam release of this game?

Good to see they're still willing to spend money on stuff like this, what with their new president and all (I know MI2:SE was released after the new guy settled in, but that project was well underway by then). I can't wait to see some more special editions. My bet: Maniac Mansion/DOTT is next, along with some sort of announcement that Telltale will be doing a new series based on the franchise. Rereleases of MI3 and MI4 will come when TTG releases MI6.

All this is pure speculation of course, and probably a bit too optimistic, especially with TTG seemingly having their hands full for the next couple of months.

Anyway, whatever the future might bring, this upgrade is good news. I'm still a bit surprised that so many people are so angry about the dancing monkeys.

They didn't completely listen! Where's my intro in the non-classic mode?!?!

    That's not strictly a bug.

I never said it was a bug.

Why would there be the need or the expectation for LEC to add an enhanced version of the intro via patch? I thought the issue of the intro being missing was that it represented a failure to preserve the original game in full - that was my problem, anyhow. And with the original version intact and available at the press of a key, surely the enhanced version should be able to take any minor liberties, which throwing from the prologue to Scabb would surely constitute, that it wants? The intro's exclusion in the first place struck me as a conscious choice. It doesn't have to be agreed with, but bug material? I think not!

Incidentally, does the patch correct the vertical scrolling in classic mode?

I'm mostly curious if the Xbox version has been iMuse-ized. That was a really bad oversight on LEC's part.

Also, the intro is back. But only in classic mode.
