5th E3 Image Posted 02 May, 2002 / Comments: 43
LucasArts.com has posted the fifth and perhaps final concept art image for their E3 Warm-up page. The image, which you can view directly here, could be something from a new Star Wars game or it may be something from an original title. Leave a comment and post your thoughts on what this could be.
WOMAN-IN-CHURCH! WOMAN-IN-CHURCH!
come to think of it, this img is a weird mix of styles. it's like the metal crap was rendered in some "hand-drawn" style, and then a bunch of land was sketched around it. ('cept for some parts, where it looks like it was airbrushed.)
As for full throttle....how is ben supposed to run his bike on a another planet?
The DIG... best serious adventure game EVAR, in my opinion :-)
BUT they should start making an effort in terms of original titles. Grim Fandango was so successful as a title because of the very fact that the story immurses you and you didn't know what was going to happen next.
Don't get me wrong! I love the Monkey Island series, Outlaws is a classic in it's own right but I just feel they need to get back to what they once were. Innovators!
And am I the only one who feels a bit miffed to find out that of the 5 sneak peeks, 2 are Star Wars games.
What ever happened to Simon Jeffrey's statement of (and I misquote) "People are saying 'Where are all the original titles?' but in 2002 they will be saying 'Where are all the Star Wars titles?' ". Bit annoying how nearly 50/50 (the company's projected output) is Star Wars-based. We need new, original titles and I would like to see in house development too...
Okay, my rant is finished :-)
I must point out however that from the beginning, Simon did promise a near 50/50 ratio between Star Wars and original titles. This year, he delivered what he promised.
This does not necessarily happen with Star Wars games as they are dictated by the films and expanded universe but the quirky, cheeky nature of Lucasarts has only been shown in EMI (which was nowhere near up to the standard of the rest of the series...).
I hate to b*tch but I just feel a bit left down. Post-E3, I'll probably be in a buzz of secret announcements that have been made and Nintendo FINALLY showing a playable Metroid Prime. But for now, it's all a bit... average. Apart from Gladius, which could be the mutt's nuts! :-)
GREAT, 2D (lucas) art come back....!
I'm all for Full Throttle 2 but I think the Dig, overall, was a bit of a let down. The soundtrack kicked ass and I think it could have made a great film, had Spielberg decided to do it. But as a game... it fell a bit short...
But hey, it's Lucasarts! Who gives a damn! This coming from me who has every Lucasart/film game ever other than the edutainment games. L8rs, peeps!

I think we should go to Lucasarts HQ for a mass shaving of Simon Jeffrey's Lucas-ite beard. Only joking! Would be rather funny though...
I'll shut up now... :-)
