Looks like someone finally informed the Disney suits that they own other properties from Lucas besides Star Wars.

In the 2player-video Tim mentions that he wants to build on the work of the people who updated the game in recent years - the HD patches and so on. That makes it sound like it's mostly a clean-up of the old version. I was hoping they'd rebuild the game in a new engine - allowing for full 3D environments (keeping the old camera angles obviously), so that they can have widescreen and neat lighting and stuff like that. I doubt the old models they used to make those pre-rendered backgrounds still exist in a usable state.

Anyhow, I'll be buying the hell out of this, whatever it'll be. And obviously all the other Lucasarts-remakes that come out if it. And the Sony-funded Psychonauts 2. All of it.

This is the best April Fools joke that Mixnmojo has pulled off yet. Doing it in June rather than the usual April, and then getting Sony and Tim Schafer to play along... genius!!

God, I hope not, that's just cruel

We're really pushing the boat out on this one. The game will actually be released -- but when you play it, it will corrupt your PS4 and make it display a Brazilian flag/skull & crossbones. It'll be hilarious!

I'm catching up with the Sony press conference right now, burst out laughing at this part! XD

This is great! The letter, despite being fake, is very true lol - I didn't get a chance to play Grim Fandango so I'm glad I'll be able to soon! ^_^

I'm hoping that Tim saw this video and got some ideas:

Great news, but I see a lot of people clamoring for a DOTT Remastered next. While that might be pretty cool, I'd rather have a new story in the Maniac Mansion universe.

It would make sense to do a DOTT remake as a springboard into a new Maniac Mansion universe game.

I hope they also release the original version.
Whether it's doing it like the MISPs [push a button and see it the way it looked like] or separately.
I prefer it to be released separately of course. DRM-free.

Also, I Wonder if it'll be redone in 2.5D or 3D [with the TellTale-like camera]...

Can't wait for more info! I hope 2PP does a documentary of it. It'd be awesome for the remake to be open to public weather by a blog, livestreams and/or a documentary.

R.I.P. to all the sperm cells that I sacrificed upon reading this news.

So Sony brokered a deal with Disney over a LucasArts adventure game IP. Can you say "crucial precedent?"

This is great news, I hope other Lucas Arts games [Day of the Tentacle, Curse of Monkey Island, Full Throttle etc] are remade as well.

Awesome possum! I'm glad to see that Disney's interested in getting back their investment in the LucasArts properties, and it's not all just Star Wars. I've been quite pleased with the Disney owned LucasArts so far (the Star Wars themed iOS games are quite fun, and although I've never played a Battlefront game, it's great that the company who inspired those games with Battlefield is making the sequel), and now this. Give us a new Indiana Jones game and my fan status will be cemented. :)

This is a big step towards getting the rest of the deal with Disney's (LucasArts) classic games out. Remastered. Getting stoked. Of course Sony should get some exclusivity. They're helping to bring the classics out. I wouldn't mind waiting an extra year or so just to play the remastered again.

Think about it. Full HD. It just gives me.. yeah.

True, but it sounds like they'll be announcing other platforms, PC included, if you read Tim's tweets. Hopefully if this goes well we can see a remastering of Curse with Bill Tiller updating the art to hi-res. Mmmmm, yes please.

So much for all that rhubarb about Disney letting LA's vault of classics rot. Follow it up with that "Day of the Tentacle HD" remake that we've been bleeding over for years, and it'll be officially be a brand new day.

Here's to the glorious return of Grim Fandango. Don't give a crap about the PS4/Vita release. But when it comes on PC, I will re-buy it and enjoy it again, while keeping my boxed copy on it's deserved place on my bookshelf at home.

I wonder how they managed to get the rights.

Of course, this falls into my luck. I finally bought the game off eBay last week. Now they go and announce this.

This goes a small way towards cheering me up, given Rik Mayall's passing today.
