The sordid end of Telltale 04 Oct, 2018 / 9 comments

If you want to read more dirt on Telltale’s abrupt closure, look no further than this article from The Verge. There isn’t a whole lot of new information in there, but it serves as a good summation of the time leading up to the closure.

Worth noting is the confirmation of what a lot of us suspected: The Walking Dead-fatigue is indeed a thing, and good as season four could have been -- or will be, as TTG, the classy joint it is, is shopping around for another company to finish up the remaining episodes -- the games just weren’t selling. Couple that with two investors that weren’t as ready to put money up as the company thought they were, and here we are.

Don’t take my word for it, though -- go read.

Oh, well. At least we have Wadjet Eye.

Thankfully they did get past their Kickstarter request total today.

25 - one team = ? I assume not many, and I'm sort of curious how many teams those 25 made up in the first place.

Well, at least there's still a skeleton crew of 25... oops, no, fired too!

She tweeted again to clarify that her team was let go, but there are still some people there.

    It doesn't look good regardless.

This whole thing is so depressing. I'm actually kind of mad(der) at Kevin Bruner. I wonder why Dan Connors left the first time around, anyway

The thing is, you could kind of see past the formula by the end of season 1 of TWD: the choices didn't ultimately matter all that much. (Same applies to "Life is Strange.") Had they spaced those with other, classic adventure games, they may have held people's interest (and certainly would have held mine). I wanted new IPs, new art styles, new mechanics...More "Nelson Tethers" and less "Back to the Future."

Oh, well. At least we have Wadjet Eye.
