Telltale teases new game by showing an unseemly amount of leg 18 Dec, 2014 / 12 comments

Updated by me, because apparently Jason, Jennifer, Zaarin, and whoever else works here these days have been too lazy to do so ¬¬… It's Minecraft: Story Mode. Yes. I'm underwhelmed too.

"Super secret surprise announcements before the holiday break? Maaaaaybe. ...hashtag #subtle!," tweeted TTG's Job Stauffer mysteriously, teasingly followed up with ,"Well, kids... You see... When two game developers love each other VERY much... and they get together...". I'm sure all Telltale forum dwellers are sharpening their pencils, getting ready to write love poems about whatever comes next, already.

Anyway! In mere hours the announcement will be made, and we're all excited to see what TTG, Disney, and Double Fine will do with Full Throttle what will come next.

Super looking forward to this. Despite what others are saying, I can see huge potential in this. HUGE.

I just hope that the characters will remember things I say to them. And that there'll be notes to remind me. It's the only way I can be sure.

I think it will probably have that Strong-Bad feeling.

As most here(?) I'm not exactly excited about this. It's not that the game is necessarily going to be bad, it's more that there are a lot of franchises out there that seem much more exciting for Telltale. It's a genius business move by Telltale though - they're now covering some of the most popular comics (Walking Dead), tv shows (GoT) and videogames (Minecraft) at the moment, and as some people online have pointed out it's pretty cool that this will be an entry point to adventure games for a lot of kids. It's just not something that I'd want to play. I said that about Borderlands too, and I was wrong about that, so I might be proven wrong. But I really don't think I will.

On the upside, this news made me remember that someone gifted me a copy of Minecraft over a year ago and that I never checked it out. I'm now completely hooked. It's a great little time waster that somehow really works for me. Still not interested in seeing it as a story game at all - completely doing your own thing in that world and making your own story is most of the charm for me. I gave myself a Bill Murray skin from Life Aquatic and I'm currently building a giant skull-shaped fortress on an island. I also have plans for a rollercoaster coming out of its mouth.

I should just quit my real job now.

What? WHAT?! I don't understand, Minecraft....how do you write a story for that? How? It's basically LEGO, what do you do with that?

These are all quite good, as is this.

Minecraft: Story Mode huh. My kid will probably love it.

Maybe Telltale can save some money on graphics and animation.

I hope it's not something Lucas related!
Please leave that stuff to Double Fine, thank you!

No, thanks. I'm not really interested in a Minecraft Telltale game. The new Borderlands is kinda fun though.
