Oh no. If this is TTG's standard for "realistic" graphics, it's a really bad sign for the Back to the Future episodes. I really hope their approach will be different there!

And Ubisoft... well, after their ominpotent DRM PC customer rejection program, I don't think I'd ever want to have anything to do with that firm again.

Uhh, ignoring most of your points, may I bring up that Puzzle Agent was made using the same 3d engine as CSI, and also CSI is about as "mass market" as you can get for a videogame.

The 3d models here look like manikin dolls. Let's play CSI with a bunch of manikin dolls. Telltale graphics are generally boring and generic except for Puzzle Agent, I like Puzzle Agent's original graphical approach. Where is the originality and edginess in the graphics of games lately? 3d models in general really piss me off. The designers are lazy and make 3d models so that it's easier to animate. Things that take time to make always look better than taking shortcuts and having the computer do the animation for you. I want frame by frame animation and original models. If in 3d they better not look like stiff manikin robots. I think the new Monkey Island 2 SE game is right on target graphically (Scabb Island looks incredible graphically). But at the end of the day I really appreciate Telltale games, and they are a great company, but they need to focus more on original style and less mass market style. Trying to follow the mass market works for a bit but in the long run, people forget about mass market games and they only remember and treasure original games that think outside of the box (Grim Fandango). It's a shame Grim Fandango is low res, if that was high res now it would blow everyone else out of the water.

I think this actually was only a showcase to Ubisoft, and not intensionally meant for the public. I give Telltale my trust, because I know they never disappoints. They might only have used the old models temporary, for placeholders or something. Like with the previous CSi game we got an early glimpse of, that too was from an early build of the game.

No, those shots aren't from the older CSI games, as far as I can tell (and I played all of them). I do think they're using the same character models they used in Deadly Intent, their last game.

The CSI games never felt like they had the biggest budget, and in a lot of ways their other games always where prettier. I don't know if they're still outsourcing most of the graphic stuff with this game like they did with the olders CSI games, but I wouldn't base too much of your BttF/JP-speculation on Fatal Conspiracy.

Anyway, I like that all the cases are connected this time, like in ToMI and Devil's Playhouse. Sort of looking forward to this.

I've never played Telltale's CSI games, but I'm pretty sure most of the footage in that trailer is from their previous games. I definitely recognize some of those shots from the trailers for the other ones, at any rate.

If the glimpses of gameplay we see in the trailer are made with the so-called "fully updated rendering engine", I think that we can start to scream "FAIL"....
Reprobates had fewer budget, was released 2 years ago and still got better looking characters than this plastic look...

Really hope these are just some not-in-game teaser shots and that Jurassic Park will not be made with this engine.
