Telltale's inexorable journey to becoming Skynet reaches its next phase.

Episodic game maker Telltale Games has cut a deal with Lionsgate Entertainment for an unspecified sum that will see the San Rafael-based studio start making episodic TV/game "Super Shows," starting with an original Telltale Games property.

As part of the deal, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer and newly-minted Unity CEO John Riccitiello will join Telltale's board of directors.

Really don't know what to expect, but at least you can't accuse them of not trying new things. Good luck to them.

the last photorealistic attempt game was probably CSI or Law & Order.

CSI is as photorealistic as Game of Thrones, but yes, those come the closest.

Law & Order had a distinctly cel-shaded look, as I recall.

And the next step is TTG starting to make laserdisc games!
I can foresee the cheesy commercials:
"Just click here and there once in a while and watch the story go depending on your decisions! That's right! Choose when to click and beware: if you don't click on time, the game will remember this important decision and react consequently! Welcome to the future!"

Well, they're standing by their ideas - I recall reading of this sort of convergence in earlier Telltale interviews. Hope it works!

I see a lot of people moaning about the engine (though I don't have a problem with it, I think it manifests more on mobile platforms), I wonder if this new partnership will also bring on some upgraded tech that will allow for more photorealistic models. I does seem the stylised graphics work better in their current engine, though the last photorealistic attempt game was probably CSI or Law & Order.
