Telltale announces games based on every licence ever (except Bone) 01 Apr, 2011 / 12 comments

April Fools.

Fresh from announcing games based on Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Strong Bad, Wallace & Gromit, Back To The Future, Jurassic Park, Fables, The Walking Dead, King's Quest, and those cool cartoons with the gnomes, Telltale has announced it has acquired the rights to produce games based on all the other licences ever created that they haven't made a series of episodic adventures out of yet.

"We just didn't feel we had enough games on our plate already," said Jake Rodkin, head of Telltale. "I mean, seven games? Please, any developer worth their salt has seven games on the go at once. We thought we'd give ourselves a special challenge and buy up every other licence on the planet. We'll be doing a sequel to A Tale of Two Cities first, followed by Vampire Hunter D, The Tick, Day of the Triffids, The Goonies, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Conan The Barbarian, Stephen King's IT, My Neighbour Totoro and maybe a couple of Star Wars iPhone games before the end of the year. Not Bone though, we think it sucks."

    Jake

Just last weekend I hung an old Bone banner up in the office because I miss it and its an important part of Telltale's history.

Yeah, I know, I'd love to see Telltale carry it on but know it's not feasible. A bit of a melancholic joke, but meant with the hope that everyone knows I'm not being serious.

Also, samandmax.co.uk did the April Fool's story that I've wanted to officially do at Telltale for years, but have never been able to get enough momentum to legally wrangle.

I actually think The Goonies would work. It's exactly nostalgic enough for Telltale's key demographic.

Also, looking forward to an episodic release of the Blazing Saddles game.

it's the only Telltale licence not to be completed, and will probably never be.

    Bone sucks? Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay........

This isn't a comment on our or Telltale's opinion of Bone (we love it, games and comics, and Telltale loved it enough to make it their first games) - merely a comment on the way it's the only Telltale licence not to be completed, and will probably never be.
