In a recent survey, Telltale asked fans what they'd most like to see next as an episodic adventure game. According to Telltale boss Dan Connors (speaking to Joystiq), the number one adaptation fans most want to see is TV's Lost.
May I just be the first to say: no. If you voted for Lost over, say, Futurama, you're an idiot. If ever proof were needed that game makers shouldn't listen to their fans, I think this would be Exhibit A.
On the other hand, redeeming my faith in Telltale fans, the second choice was Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, which would be an absolutely perfect choice and desperately needs (another) good adventure game adaptation. Or even Dirk Gently.

I'll keep that in mind. :)

What's the news value of this post? All it does is insult Lost fans.
It's generated a bunch of discussion.
I'm a huge Lost fan too, but I'm not looking for a Lost game from Telltale. The time for that is truly over.
But not taking the Lost suggestions so literally, it bodes well for "serious" adventures with a big mystery, strange happenings, a dark and twisted theme. Just like the people who asked for Doctor Who.
This style of game could be applied to other similar franchises - X-Files, Fringe, V etc.

It's the people who were prepared to vote for an about-to-finish show to be adapted into a game over many decent choices that would actually suit Telltale that I'm calling fools.
They did vote for Lost.
You're a horrible man and you make children cry, Tingler :(
1) There are a ton of existing adventure game IPs to explore (Loom, Maniac Mansion, maybe something from the Sierra catalog, etc) or they could do an original IP.
2) I think a Lost adventure game would require a significant amount of pre-existing knowledge of the show. This could turn-off customers/gamers who aren't familiar with the series (such as myself). Where as, Sam & Max can easily be summed up as: "hyper active rabbity thing and talking dog are detectives on weird cases." That's all you really need to know to get into a Sam & Max game. (Yes, I realize Telltale keeps bringing back characters from previous episodes and reference previous events... but that doesn't prevent you from getting your foot in the door).
I'd love to see Futurama, though. Or maybe a new Discworld game.
Not sure Futurama would be a great idea. The first few seasons were good. Then it went the way of the Simpsons.
Also, Lost is awesome but I don't want a videogame of it for at least 20 years.
The Tingler
I'm all for Telltale doing drama, I just think Lost is a very, very, very bad choice. Not just because it's about to finish, but also because it's reliant on its mystery to work
That's like saying they can't make a movie out of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" because the story already exists as a book, and therefore the mysteries have no effect on the movie.
Lost is not reliant of the mysteries for it to work. It is reliant on solid character stories and the dramatic tensions between them.
The Tingler
...a mystery Telltale won't be allowed anywhere near, just like the last game and all the spin-off books. It will just have to rehash stuff Lost fans already know, and what's the point of that?
If they do a rehash of the series, the fans will be thrilled and the newcomers will be intrigued. They can also to a spin -off based on some of the mysteries they didn't answer in the series. Maybe the main character is Jacob with the motivation of getting people on the island. Man that would be awesome...
Add some solid puzzles, and voila; You get the perfect adventuregame!
The Tingler
And also they won't be able to get all (if any) of the actors.
Who cares about the actors? They replaced Sam & Max didn't they? :)
I'm not trying to put Telltale down but I just have to wonder wether they could imitate the original style of the books well enough. Being a big fan of DNA, I tend to get overly critical with these things.

This is the most biased news post I've ever seen in the history of the Internet.
Thanks!

I don't particularly care if Lost is adapted into a game or not (if it's Telltale I'll buy it), but I think you just called a large amount of Telltale fans - and my friends and relatives - idiots, Tingler.
H2G2 for example would be an absolutely superb choice, and most importantly very different from anything they've done before. It may be comedy again, but it's a very unique style that Telltale haven't attempted before, and would make a nice challenge.

Well, maybe Nick Jameson. Tell the truth Lost voters - that's all you wanted isn't it? You just want Nick Jameson to do a Telltale adventure game!
24 on the other hand? That would be superb. And that has Jameson too. Or Doctor Who, but that's already getting an adventure game. And it doesn't have Nick.
Telltales CSI games haven't been great but they were enjoyable and leagues better over anyone doing similar games. If it keeps the bills paid and allows them to also make their other great series, then go for it Telltale.
Besides, Lost ventured into alternate reality and parallel universes. It isn't like the shows creators care about what a game might do the the canon.
I also enjoyed the Colfer's "sequel" to the H2G2 :)
Telltale needs to prove that they can make a game more in the drama departement. Especially now after releasing 5 comedic IPs in a row.
LOST is a perfect vessel for Telltale to do exactly that.
Think about it; You have exotic locations, VERY interesting characters, intriguing mysteries and a FANTASTIC atmosphere if they get it right!
Last I must say that while I didnt take offense by the moderator of this post calling me an idiot (surely because it was meant sarcasticly), but I'm sure there are others who see it differently.
In other words: Stop being such a jerk, Tingler!
@elTee: Ever read anything by Fox?
Now if they're were considering DOTT, The Dig or a proper Indy game then I might be interested in seeing that!! :)
Awful.
Bad. Awful.
Futurama would be fun, but doubtful they'd be able to get the original voice artists, and that would ruin it for me.
