Star Wars... on DVD! 10 Feb, 2004 / Comments: 7

At long last! According to DVDFile.com, we should see the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD no later than this September 21st. Of course, it's going to be the 1997 'special' edition, but it's better than nothing. Check out the article here!

I'm curious to see what (if any) new or enhanced scenes there will be. I don't really have a problem with the Special Editions, except for:

    Greedo shoots first (obviously)
The sissy scream Luke yells when falling after his hand gets chopped off
That horrible new Jabba Palace musical number

Everything else I thought was okay.

They're not the 1997 editions. Lucas has been adding scenes during the new trilogy, and its likely that they will be another new version on the DVD to accomodate for the stories of Episodes I, II and III.

Now i don't see it anywhere explicitly written, that these are SE editions. Just because it will feature enhanced sound and picture does not mean they will be special editions. Time will tell i guess.

You mean apart from where a LucasFilm spokesman explicitly states that only the Special Editions will be released on DVD? Pay attention.

I didn't bother to read the artilce from the link. I'm subscribed to StarWars newsletter and there was no mention of SE. Not that it matters to me, i have nothing against SE. And i never figured why so many people were bothered by Gredo shooting first :D

"Special Editions"? Bleh. I have better things to spend my money on, like paying a large Haitian man to kick me in the balls.
