Sam & Max sell out 28 Sep, 2006 / Comments: 20

Check out the long-rumored official MySpace page for Sam & Max! Whether or not you're into these things, it's fun and (presumably) effective marketing. And most importantly, there's an awesome music track from the game playing on it. If the gameplay videos are any indication, this is the theme for the office. Anyway, go!

Wow, I was more surprised than I thought I would be.

MySpace is great! Love the site as well, it's really well designed and the music is awesome.

myspace is spreading like a disease...

MySpace will definitely give you an STD, but a very big portion of the Internet seems to like it and its ilk, so hey.

Myspace, the Pedophile's Little Black Book. Plus it let's bad designers make their own sites.

Not a fan, definately sad that they sold out :(

"Myspace is like a nightclub with crappy decor & crappy music, but it's where everyone else is so you end up there." - Anon.

There's no selling out in useing the internet's best (and free) networking and publicity tool.

And the Sam & Max profile might just be the best looking MySpace profile I've ever had the pleasure of visiting.

In fact I feel compelled to finally sign myself up for the simple reason of becoming a friend of Sam & Max...

It lets bad designers make their own sites! Heaven forbid! Maybe we should scour web archive and geocities to find the old fansites, web boards, and guestbooks made by every designer on this network. I'm sure they'll all be aesthetic gold and not at all hideous!

For the record, I did the basic design for the Sam & Max myspace page with the help of Telltale's summer marketing intern, and the final page was put together and is maintained by HiroHero, who people might recognize from various forums around here.

And for the record I love you Jake, and it makes me cry when you yell at me :'(

I was in no way meaning to offend how the Sam and Max MySpace looks (which is amazing honestly), I meant the pages in general. Yeah, our old sites our hideous, but we still did more than what MySpace offers. Myspace makes it incredibly easy for non-saavy people to make what they think is an attractive page, when in the end they go against all unwritten rules of the internet. At least when we were making our ugly-ass sites we were learning how to work with HTML and web design. MySpace just makes it supereasy to make crap, and you don't learn anything.

I don't know how many of you guys have heard of Facebook, but that is the way to make networking sites. Same look for every profile, but the content is all unique to the user.

Make a Sam and Max Facebook account, that would rock, too :P.

Sam & Max would have had to go to college for them to have a Facebook account. ;)

Not true, that movie Accepted had its own Facebook.

I, for one, think you did a whizbang job, Jake!
  • Haggis on 29 Sep, 2006, 18:06…
Yeah, I had no idea you can actually make good-looking sites with MySpace. Great job. :)
  • Jake on 29 Sep, 2006, 22:24…
Thanks, I just did the background image. The page was done by HiroHero and Emily.
  • Haggis on 30 Sep, 2006, 11:51…
Hats off to them as well then. :)

Just on myspace..you have no idea how hard it is to do the simplest things on there..and getting a clean looking page is quite a challenge! kudos to everyone involved.. Now yes I hate myspace as much as the next person but its a necessary evil.. I use it to keep in touch with people I probably wouldnt if I didnt have a myspace account. I've also run into old friends on there/people i havent heard from in years which is quite kool. Now as far as how useful sam and max is on myspace. There are so many people on myspace, that theres bound to be people who are sam and max or adventure game fans, who have never visited telltales site and didn't even know a new sam and max game was coming out. If we can reach those people, and even make some new fans, then its been worthwhile.

I'm not a myspace user either, but it's hugely popular and these types of tie-in site are turning up quite a bit. Any exposure for Sam & Max is a good thing.
