What ...something ... is, is anyone's guess, though odds are that it will be a smaller game, like Double Fine's four upcoming titles.
Anyway, read the thing and then start speculating madly.
jp update: Kotaku have spoken to the duo about future Monkey Island collaborations. "You know the ex-president (of LucasArts) always leaves a note to the new LucasArts president that says, 'Don't talk to Ron about Monkey Island."

There's no reason to believe RG left Hothead in non-amicable circumstances.
I beg to differ, but I'll also state it's none of our business. I might be late to the party, but I'm just as excited as the rest of you. As far as our tribe is concerned, this is probably better than Telltale/new company. I presume the former is up to their necks with new IPs, the latter is a giant risk. Schafer's current "small games for XBLA/PSN/[redacted]" approach is almost too good.
I just hope that I won't have to buy an iPhone/iPad to play Gilbert's new offering, judging from his twitter and all....
I thought TOMI was pretty good. And Ron was involved in that. I doubt he'll be working on another MI game at Double Fine.

Ron must be patting himself on the back for having hired Tim in the first place twenty years ago.
Yes, the mentor has become the... mented? dammit I'm no good at this

...it seems he left because his project there was done.
Exactly!

For some reason in my mind's eye I saw T-1000 being shattered in a million pieces and slowly merging back together
Incredible!

I must admit I was betting he'd turn up at Telltale, not Double Fine.
Me too! Damn, it would have been great!
But Tim&Ron will give us some true arcade fun for sure! ;)

It's interesting - has he fallen out with Hothead then? Maybe he thought he lost control of DeathSpank under them and EA.
There's no reason to believe RG left Hothead in non-amicable circumstances. Right now, it seems he left because his project there was done.
