Psychonauts officially to be published for Xbox and PC by Majesco Games 04 Aug, 2004, 12:58 / 16 comments

The official word is out: Psychonauts is back on with new publisher Majesco Games, along with the bonus news that Psychonauts will be coming to the PC as well as XBox. So, that's awesome. You can read the whole press release here, but here are a few snips anyway:
Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine, added: ?I'm really excited to be working with Majesco because I can tell they understand what Psychonauts is all about, and that they believe in giving developers the creative freedom they need to fully realize their ideas. Together we are going to make what could conservatively be called the greatest game of all time ever, and I think that's awesome."
The news was rumored to be coming for a while, but it's really reassuring to have it actually on paper (or, online) instead of just sort of a "maybe" that floats around forums and news sites. According to the press release, Psychonauts "will be available next year," hopefully that means "early next year." We'll be waiting. Congrats to Double Fine for getting their game back on track!

    While I'm still happy, this kinda pisses me off as well. I mean, one of the main reasons i bought an xbox 2 years ago was to play psychonauts and now it was unecessary. But i shouldnt complain, cause at least its coming.

    As discussed to death in this thread, I think the game is better suited for consoles than PCs.

    Still, it's good that non-Xbox owners will get a chance to play it too.

    I bought xbox for psychonauts too. KOTOR was part of the reason, but I already knew that KOTOR was being ported to PC... which I would've waited for if I knew in advance Psychonauts would be released for PC as well.

    I may have to get both versions. I expect it'd be better experience on console, but I wanna be able to play the game long after my xbox croaks.

    Well, I picked up an analoge gamepad (thrustmaster) for a great price, have a pretty decent 3D card, and I prefer the resolution on my monitor to a TV for showing off all those purdy graphics.

    So I'm all set for it on the computer! Muhahahaha.
