It occured to us earlier today that we've never (to my knowledge) uploaded a version of the crazy E3 Psychonauts teaser video with a working soundtrack. If you haven't seen it yet with audio, you've seriously missed out, and need to get this immediately! Here is the file:

For those who still don't know, Psychonauts is the latest game from the creator of Grim Fandango and Full Throttle, Tim Schafer, and his new company Double Fine Productions. You can read our first impressions of Psychonauts here.

This game trailer reminds me of Bettlejuice and the Nightmare Before Christmas with a hint of Grim Fandango and maybe a little bit of DOTT goodness.

    Shweet! :P

Very cool. Mario meets DOTT meets Harry Potter if this trailer is anything to go by.

Tim Burton influence in a Tim Schafer game? NEVER.

Truly! The beginning's nightmare sequences felt so much like The Nightmare Before Christmas and the characters have a Burtonesque edge to them (at least as far as the facial expressions go). And that's always a terrific sign.

    Looking good, feeling great!

Yeah, one of the characters in the trailer really reminded me of that weird blue guy in the Nightmare before Christmas that walks with an axe through his head the entire movie.
Anyway, this looks amazing. I want this game. Now.

I was saying earlier that the music reminds me of a mix between something from Pulp Fiction and James Bond. And the opening music reminds me of Bernard Hermann's score from Vertigo, but maybe the visuals have more to do with that. It's really great so far, and we can be sure to expect high quality from Peter McConnell. I only hope a soundtrack is released.
